Plus 10 Thousand ..but in the Bizarro world of the Jets I bet they resign McGown for a year to tutor a FQB

I would rather stomach this than a Cousins hire

Between A rock and a hard place here but at least they are serious about drafting someone good

Not sure how we keep a guy who consistently punts down two scores with 4 minutes left in the game.

Does he seriously think he has a better chance recovering an onside kick than converting a 4th down.

The best coaching decision Rex ever made was going for it on 4th and 1 with TJ to seal the game in San Diego. No way TB would have the balls to do that.

lmao they have higher standards of competence?
with a lot of talent and high expectations, they won 2 games, were not competitive at all, had tons of locker room drama and players completing checking out.
in short they were a shit show, which disproves your point that buying in and playing hard should be a given.

so according to you, being 12th at passer rating is not above average (even though it is), and that TD:INT ratio doesn't mean anything.
you are also trying to say McCown's INT's were low because his pass attempts were low (not true), but if his attempts were low why weren't his TD's low? that's why you look at ratio..
    and dismissing >70% accuracy, whatever.

we haven't seen QB play like this since Pennington.
The numbers very clearly back my argument that he's been an above average QB.
if a young guy played like McCown did this year, the whole board would be a circle jerk.
but because he's old, many people are trying to insist his play sucked (to better fit their narratives), which simply is not true.

long term I agree McCown won't be part of the equation simply due to his age.
He's been an effective stop gap for the year, and if they don't upgrade their veteran option (like Cousins) he could be a viable stop gap another year while a young guy develops.

No. According to me being 12th or, more accurately, being 14th is barely above average and is solidly rooted in mediocrity; not much to celebrate in a guy's best season ever and certainly nothing to consider a foundation for the future. The topic here, however is not some also-ran old QB but the coaching staff that decided he was the guy that belonged on the field but would not give him and the rest of the team the playbook necessary or the game management required to win football games. Instead they got clobbered regularly even as he had a season far exceeding his past or any expectation for the future.

so what sorting are you doing now to get 14th?
i gave you the link showing he is 12th in passer rating.
but either way, with 32 teams, that IS above average, and that IS the topic you obnoxiously challenged me on while you incorrectly looked at stats sorted by total yards.

Team played well and kept themselves in the games most of the times this season. Sure there were couple of clunkers but so does every team. So not surprising to see both are back but am curious to see what Mac does with the draft and FA. While a QB is obviously a need , I think OL is in need of a seious upgrade. Too many costly penalties by our OL imo. Glad Mo will be gone.

I'm looking at the NFL official stats which show him as #18 but throwing out four guys above him who only threw a handful of passes. Every compilation figures rating differently; another list I saw also showed him at #14 but I already said it was actually above average, but not enough for me to care and certainly not enough for any kind of celebration. I'm not going to be the guy who disregards what he sees on the field and builds his entire case on statistics in black and white when everything is really a dull, dark shade of gray.

passer rating is calculated the same for everyone.
usually when looking at a stat like that though, there has to be a minimum number of attempts to weed out punters, backups, guys who have only played a game or two, etc... the link i provided you has the minimum criteria, he's 12th (and 4th in completion %).

i'm not just basing it on stats though. He passed the eye test.
McCown was extremely accurate, and had a big arm to effectively stretch the field. He effectively helped the team settle in a new offense with limited talent. The players and coaches clearly responded to him as well, and just voted him team MVP. Try to name 15 QBs who were better than him this season.
You may not get excited about him, that's fine, but he was an above avg NFL QB this season.

And I would like to add, The McCown addition made me want to puke. Then he goes out and has an above average year and shoves it right down my pie hole.
They voted him team MVP? I wasn't aware. I would take a QB with any name that could play like he did this season, every year. Surround him with playmakers and turn them loose.

Todd Bowles is a stupid person, a stupid overwhelmed coach. The stupidity will continue next year.
