General consensus in sports world is that Jets over achieved. 5-10 is bad but expectations for this team was 0-16 before the season started. So if you think Jets over achieved who do you think is responsible for this?
Everyone is responsible. Mac made some really solid moves that paid off for the team, notably the Richardson trade. Bowles kept the team on the straight and narrow for the most part. Morton made lemonade out of dog shit. The reality of this team is they aren't very talented and it's going to take a while to say otherwise. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Out of that list I would say 1. Morton with the help of Bates really helped the Jets. The offense was pretty good. Many thought it would be DEAD LAST 32 out of 32. 2. Maccagnan made some solid moves. Obviously drafting Adams and Maye was good. Signing McCown helped. Trading for Kearse was good. He is a solid WR who I like a lot. Trading for Davis worked out really well. He played better than anyone expected. Claiborne did good. Overall great job by Mac. Add in he gave himself an OUT in the Mo deal: genius. As he is trash and can't wait to see him off the roster. 3. Bowles got the team ready to play most weeks. Still made bone headed mistakes but was okay overall. Nothing special, nothing too terrible. 4. Rodgers is still awful and should be fired. Bowles replaced Chan last year, he should replace Rodgers this year. The D can do better.
Sorry, but this poll is like asking" Who performed better, the captain of the Titanic or the guy who designed it? FWIW, they both performed mediocre and not worth keeping.
Mac was able to prove that he is draft capable with this rookie class this past year, not one released or traded player that made us wonder why they are not here any longer. I believe most of the success this year, ( how sickening is it to talk about success with 5 wins) centers around the receivers giving it all they have to prove they belong in the league. Many holes to fill, priority should be why the D performed so-so, too many penalties and horrible clock coaching, improvement begins with Bowles, they must think he is capable of a thought to give him a 2 year extension.
McCown was they move that caused the 5 wins. Not Morton/Bates, the WR's, etc.... Since McCown has been out, how good are they looking now? Not sold on Mac and his other moves. Kearse has been good, but to trade a former first round pick for him and a pick? Jury is still out on Mac in my opinion.
Realistic expectations were never 0-16, despite what the talking heads would have had you believe, but rather 2 or 3 wins. The reason they have 5 wins is purely because McCown had a career year, which tells you just how bad his career has been. Personally, I give no one but McCown himself and the gods of good fortune credit for that career year, so for me the real answer to your question is "None of the above." If we take the question literally as "who among these three choices performed the best?" I guess I would go with Macc since he is responsible for all of that cap room without apparently getting rid of anyone who was particularly missed or would have made any difference to the team, but that doesn't mean he actually performed particularly well.
May as well add Kevin Greene to Morton/Bates. Those 3 were most responsible for the Jets overachieving.
+Dorrell. Anderson's development has been amazing. I feel like we have some pretty decent assistant coaches and that's a big reason why i didn't want them to blow things up this offseason. Let them continue working with this core and see where it goes.
There was growth and there's room for more growth, across the board, with the potential to improve the roster significantly
Maybe I should start a Post "Who got conned into believing we are any better" Choices: The Johnsons The Fans Mannish Mehta All of the above Next year we go 7-9 ...but don't forget the atmostphere in the Jets Locker room continues to improve If the owners don't set a higher bar for Mac/ Bowles going forward there is no hope for this team ...players show up and love Uncle Toddy because it's a Country Club and players go out each Sunday to get through 18 holes
I think the whole rationalization process among the fans is in full swing I heard on NFL radio today that the extension of the great ones was purposely announced on a Friday preceding a major Holiday...come next week the world will digest or get indigestatio over what just happened
Denial leading to an acute psychosis. Jets fans could very well be vulnerable to an MKUltra intrusion and be manipulated into a vast false flag conspiracy event....Except for a few sharpies
Nice spin, but Shedon was traded for a Second round pick , Kearse came along with the swap of 7 the round picks.
