I actually had a pretty good time at almost every game this year. Its very easy to root for a bunch of young guys led by a classy vet giving 110% every week. Losing because you aren't talented enough isn't that frustrating as long as you have some perspective.
Lol I can't even remember if he was or wasn't, but I seem to remember an epic collapse. Though there have been so many epic collapses over the years that I could be confusing it with someone else. I'm torn really, I don't think bowles is a very good coach. I hate his in game statue routine. Same mistakes forever. At the same time I'm tired of a new face every 3 years. New and improved system that never improves. So I'm ok with them giving him a little more time, as long as Mac doesn't fuck up Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
They need a qb more than they need a new coach right now. All this crap about mcgown having a career year is great, but the funny part is he's really not been any different than he's ever been. He goes from probowl throws and plays, to absolute dogshit decision making on the same drive sometimes. He's always been that and I don't see him changing. This year was no anomoly, it's just mcgown simply is an anomaly. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
The truth is - McCown has played extremely well at times, and given the Jets a “chance” to win in a lot of games What he has failed to do time and time again is step up and make that game winning big play at the right time to snatch victory from the Jaws of defeat. On the other hand regardless of stats, Brady in the 2 minute drill before the half or at the end of games makes the plays necessary to actually win the games for his team.
Lol mccown ...i typed mcgown like 7 fucking times I think my phone is sabotaging me. I've been talking rose mcgown and Manson hahaha.. It doesn't even matter, his name is spelled "irrelevant" for me. I have a hard time with him "mentoring" when his decision making is suspect at best. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Not sure why you would think I'm joking. No sarcasm here bud. All I've been doing is liking you and boozers post in this thread leading up to my reply to you. I whole heartedly agree with the majority of your opinions in this thread.
I think I can live with that. It's certainly a less than ideal situation, but as a fan you can only "play the hand you're dealt." I saw only about 6 games (I live 2500 miles away), but for the most part the team competed hard, if sometimes less than well. And although McCown usually played up, the way we lost to Miami still sticks in my craw, and is at the base of what's still wrong: the Kacy Rogers D. We gave up several leads in the 4th Q this season, and it wasn't all on the O, who admittedly spit the bit when we needed a "drive to stay alive" against Miami. Consider, we're not going anywhere with Rogers, but he's Todd's guy. So as long as Todd's the HC, we're gonna struggle. Hell, as long as the brothers Johnson are in the decision-making equation, we're going to continue to struggle. So we come back to your point: they played hard, especially McCown, and I wasn't unhappy watching them like I was in 2016, when they turned in one of the worst dog acts on record.
I love McCown's heart and what he meant to the team this season. His character definitely rubbed off and helped unite the team. Statistically speaking he played some of the best football of his career. Best since Chicago. The negatives about McCown is he would either fumble or throw an int at the worst possible time (at Miami) that would sometimes be too much for the Jets to overcome because they needed to play almost perfect to have a chance to win.
Great movie! Watched it at least a dozen times. Largely because it was on every hour at one point, but still a great movie. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Another poster made the observation that re-upping TB and Macc was the best thing that could have happened given the current situation. Maybe, maybe not. But if that's in anyway correct, it must logically mean that the ownership has no other options. They can't get anyone better, someone who knows what they're doing, to come in and take over the program. Because no one else wants to work for the perpetual ineptitude that is Florham Park today. And while that's probably closer to the truth than any of us would like, it's not going to change any time soon.
I think it has literally nothing to do with who else is available. You have a general manager that just completely broke everything down and is going to walk into the offseason with $100 million to spend and three picks in the first two rounds. You have a coach who took the roster that all of the expert said couldn't win a single game and won five of them and had all of the players playing about as hard as they possibly could (minus Mo). You don't just tear it all down at this stage of the game, you let it ride and see what you have. Whether or not they can follow through remains to be seen but they've earned enough trust to at least take the next step.
Dude, c'mon you are smarter than that. You are looking at it sorted by total yards, and McCown hasn't played in weeks. derp If you want to look at QB Passer Rating, he's 12th. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/player-stat/qb-rating-nfl For Completion percentage, he's tied for 4th. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/player-stat/completion-percentage He also has a 2:1 TD to INT ratio, and was top 15 in yards before going out with injury.
Maybe Mike Maccagnan is going to continue his growth as a GM and have an outstanding 2018 Draft. Perhaps Todd Bowles makes progress as a head coach and gets a bit more aggressive on defense with some more talent (DeMarcus "Tank" Lawrence) added to that side of the ball. Maybe the Jets finally find their franchise quarterback in the draft. That is my hope for the Jets now.
Is it your “thing” to exuberate such anger in every single one of your posts? Can’t be good for your blood pressure bro, try some deep breathing exercises or something, you need it.
Shouldn't that ambition be a given? I mean is it too much to expect 53 guys, all well rewarded and playing a game they love to turn up for 4 quarters on a Sunday? I just feel the fact that we don't outright suck is being seen as some kind of (moral) victory and we're not objectivly rating TB as a third year HC
