You and boozer have been absolutely great to read as I stayed up late into the early morning...there are others too, but you two have been a great read.
Look at these stats, compare.... 27-6 3864 481 67.4% 324 18-8 2880 386 67.9% 262 Td's-int. yards, att., comp%, comp That's this season's stats for Tom Brady and Josh McCown. Look at the two teams they play for, I doubt Tom Brady's stats would be the same as they are in NE this season, if he played for the Jets. I was totally against McCown when he got here, but to deny the truth about how he played this season is just being a hater dude.
I can't help but feel the joke is on me. I usually just piss people off with my heavy opinions. Have I done the same with you? If so I don't mean to offend and I would gladly listen to other opinions. What's yours?
What I see in the numbers you posted is: Worse, worse, worse, worse, .005 better, worse. I guess it's okay if you have your mind made up, but don't try to sell that opinion to us on a single half percentage point difference while ignoring everything else in front of you. The NFL has rankings for a reason and there's no way you can tell me that two key factors below the midpoint make McCown above average. And if you think this is important enough to me to "hate" anything, you're quite mistaken and does nothing to further your argument.
If the Jets weren't going to completely clean house, then this move makes sense. Neither Bowles nor Mac have done well enough to where I would fire one and keep the other. With the extensions being for only 2 years, next year will be a make or break year for both of them. Mac needs to find a franchise QB and fix some of the holes on this roster (OL, CB, pass rusher, etc.), while Bowles needs to improve in areas like time management and find a better DC.
The part of Lucy Van Pelt has been played in his acting debut by Christopher Johnson. The part of Charlie Brown has been played for fifty years by loyal Jets fans.
Do you work in politics? That seems to be the only place where such empty claims are expected to be believed without supporting evidence.
Fly by stats if you want to, but to say he was a below average QB considering the team he was on is being a hater. You realize Brady's stats are fatter than McCown's because of two more games played, right? I've watched every game this season with the exception of the Chargers game which McCown didn't play in. Take Brady's last two game stats out and they are much closer. So going by stats and rankings like you believe, Tom Brady is barely above average? I'm not here to convince you of anything, but to say McCowns play this season is below average is a joke. He may never have another season like this in his career, but to play at his level surrounded by the trash talent he has had this year is quite remarkable. Believe what you want, but I bet he will be our QB again next season due to how above average he played this season regardless of stats. By season's end he might be ranked last due to not playing the last 3 games. You sure got me there. Rankings are so important.
I used overall stats, you used cherry-picked stats that don't hold up, but you can criticize me for "fly(ing) by stats?" These were your exact words on the subject: "McCown was above average by every measure." Please tell us what measures support that statement; be specific.
I didn't cherry pick stats, get real. TD's, intc, yards, attempts, completions, comp% are the most basic QB stats. Please show me where I said McCown was "above average by every measure", now you are making shit up for the sake of arguing. Since you won't take the time, I'll get back to you when I'm done subtracting Tom's last two games from his seasons stats. We will see how average to below average he looks. That way you can hate him as a QB too.
It looks like the owner is giving Bowles and MacCagnan a chance to attempt their rebuild plan. Hopefully Bowles is getting better as a HC and the Jets find their franchise QB.
let's see........ 2016 5-11 2017 5-11 2018 does it matter? unless we get the second coming of marino or even wentz, the ceiling for this current team is 6-10/7-9 with mccown or even cousins. Now will 80 million and 2 second round picks be enough to improve the ceiling?? the jets HAVE to get the QB this year. look for them to overpay in april. they have no choice. give indy what they want cause we suck at picking players anyway. lol. good thing we have 80 mil to use to sign players cause we'll only have 3-4 picks at best.
My apologies, those were the words of BacktoQueens that I objected to. Your quick response when I did so was what led me to believe you were defending those words as your own rather than defending his position. No attempt to make shit up or to argue anything but the point he made. Perhaps he'll let us know what he was referring to. You really need to get over the hate thing though; is anything here that important to you?
No there isn't. Lol I do believe McCown played over his head. I hated the McCown signing initially, but the guy played his nuts off. I wish he wasn't alone in doing so this year. I ain't mad nor did I mean to piss you off if I did. It's an opinion based topic board, just trying to express my point of view while squeezing the most out of yours. No harm or foul. We cool bro?
I hate Teddy Bruschi, but he actually gives props to the Jets and tells it how it is. A lot of assumptions here Boozer. Not actual facts. I think I'll go with Buckys opinion here.
This is why if the Jets savior K Cousins is a no show..MCGown has the attitude experience and skill set to win SOME games and more importantly HELP a drafted kid get started Not saying Joshy is a great QB and unfortunately may regress next year if he comes back My goal is to see MM actually move up and do whatever it takes to land a the BEST drafted QB McGown would be a good tutor if they start the kid ...between K Cousins and him he is LESSER of two evils imo
