This is the most excellent news. This board will be in better shape. I Guess NC decided to finally go visit that Pats forum.
Man what would that say about Hue Jackson? Or coaches like Jack Del Rio, teams with far more talent, but have around the same record as the Jets? I guess they absolutely have no business being an NFL head coach either
McCown was the tank QB. Nobody expected him to play as well as he did, probably not even his own mother. The reason to play Hack or Petty wasn’t that they were more likely to lose than a career losing QB, it was to see if we needed to draft a QB after the season.
You know you could've at least tagged me. Complain all you want, I am sick of the organization and fans like yourself who want to fire someone at the sign of progress. Hack and Petty had their shot. Sure, let's start Petty all year long and watch Robby get no catches and no development. Cool dude, let's tank! Don't even get the fact that the top draft pick isn't always the best selection. Doesn't even know the draft is a crapshoot. This year to me was about development and I saw that. Now, I want to see this regime IMPROVE and build on it. Seriously, you don't know what bad is ... I think you should go be a Browns fan because they do exactly what you want them to do. Fire, fire, fire at the sight of things not going the way YOU as a fan want them to. Right now, as a Jet fan I see something developing and FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE AS A FAN, I want to see it though instead of the premature fire. What they did the first 2 years, to me I put it in the garbage, I am judging this regime by this year and the next.
I agree. Only the Jets would extend the pair responsible for two consecutive 5-11 seasons. Whether you wanted to fire Bowled / Mac or not, there was no reason why they had to get extended at this time.
Slimy hands? Who's to say how he'll handle a good young QB? He hasn't ever had one yet! He did decent with veteran QBs.
With Fitzpatrick, McCown and Petty at the helm. Hack, a no show. Yet you have fans saying, let's retain Morton, Bates, and Mac. So are you saying Bowles should go out and play QB for this team? Get this coach a QB worth something and the Jets will contend for a PO spot. When is Mac going to address the offensive line? Why is he giving out bad contracts to bad players? Has anyone seen Ben Ijalana? Oh yeah, he took the 2 year, $10,250,000 and went off with it.
Oh well... More of the same old shit we've all come to expect. Pass the pipe but fill it up first. On to 6-10!
lets see its the General Manager's job to pick the Quarterbacks and the Head Coach's job to develop them. So why then, should bad quarterbacks be used as an excuse for their performances? when you leave a horrible rock concert do you say "its okay, get those guys some guitars actually in tune and singing lessons and they would be pretty good"
my point is this organization as a whole has made questionable decisions; however Jet fans want to just point the finger at Bowles. This year, I saw a lot of progress from the entire organization, so I want to see this one through. I am glad the owner didn't decide to go with the knee jerk reaction.
I am only concerned with Mike Maccagnan's history when it comes to drafting quarterbacks. Last year Deshaun Watson was right there to be drafted, and Mac passed. Why? If he picks Watson at 6, he would've been admitting he made a mistake drafting Hackenberg in the 2nd rd of the previous draft. Mac's ego compounded one mistake with another by passing on Watson. Lastly, you don't make franchise quarterbacks. You draft them. Most of the time you find them in round one. There is always the exceptions, but I certainly don't have faith in Mac finding a franchise qb in the later rounds. Not after Hack and Petty. We given both 3 years, and after everything I've seen, Bowles is in over his head as a head coach. Mac hasn't done enough with his drafts and in free agency to deserve to stick around either. The Johnson's should've fired both and hired an experieced GM, and then stepped aside while the new GM hired the next head coach. Money talks. You get what you pay for. Another thing, as long as you give someone a fair shake it doesn't matter one iota what any outsiders think. What matters most is winning. At the end of the day Mac and Bowles are about to be 20 wins and 28 losses with back-to-back 5-11 seasons. It's like the Jets are giving them a mulligan for that first year of mistakes that had to be released. 5-11 two years in a row, and the Jets give out extensions so we can have stability? That's funny! Gosh darn it, the players like him. Give that man an extension! "5-11 was a good year! You are happy with the direction the team is headed," said Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Folks Mac/Bowles got extended. Some of you like it some of you hate it. Express your opinions. Go crazy. It is OK. But please don't do these two things. 1) Don't attack other posters for their views. Don't make things personal and please keep things in forum Rules. 2) Don't tell posters to leave or stop posting. This isn't your fathers board and it isn't your place to tell people to stay or go. Mngmnt.
I have never really made an argument for assessing Bowles based on his record. His lack of awareness or even inate football instinct or competency is what all of my statements are based upon. Bowles doesn’t know how to use time outs, he doesn’t know how to challenge plays, he doesn’t know how to play aggressive football, he doesn’t know when to go for it, he doesn’t know how to game plan week in and week out, he doesn’t know how to make half time adjustments, he doesn’t know how to make deciding drive adjustments, he doesn’t know how to chew out the refs and show passion, he doesn’t know how to close out games in the 4th quarter, and he doesn’t know how to win on the road. What exactly does Todd Bowles, as an individual and a coach, do well?
Well, I've said many times on this forum that I don't think either of them have done a spectacular job. Ultimately, just because they got a 2 year extension doesn't mean anything. I can't see them lasting past next season if we have similar results to this season. Its playoffs or bust. Find your QB or remain mediocre
Good stuff. All this who is the coach nonsense can be put away. Maybe even some posters will stop making a bad pun using the coach's name. I'll take high draft choices and large cap space over "halftime adjustments" anytime.
