Jets fans will complain about anything they can find. This really is a straight forward situation this offseason. Forget trading two firsts and two seconds to move up for a MAYBE. Cousins has been a top 10-12 QB the last 3 seasons. Give the man a blank check. Three picks within the top 42 this year and a franchise QB going into his age 30 season. You have a 6-7 year window. Get her done Mac.

So be it. Bring back McCown, draft someone in the 2nd or 3rd round to read replace Petty and see what happens next year.

Why bring back McCown? Basically throwing a year away of having Adams and Maye for cheap.

In year 5 of his deal you trade up to get your qb to learn under him. Kind of like what the giants will do with a qb this year under Eli. Except they don’t have to trade up obviously

Who else is there? You want Tyrod Taylor (who Buffalo doesnt want) or one of the Vikings rejects?

Its either Cousins, the Big 3 in the draft, or a veteran.

I would rather kick the tires on Bridgewater than McCown. TB will only cost ~10-12m max and is younger than Any qb we currently have on the roster. But for me? It’s KC or bust. There is no excuse for him not to be a NYJ next year

    This is pretty easy IMO

    Option A
    1) cut petty - waste of a roster spot
    2) keep hack - he's still cheap and we don't know what we have in him
    3) Sign a vet - Mccown, smith, bradford, bridgewater, taylor all possible
    4) Draft a QB high. Sam, allen, jackson, rosen should be a good class

    Option B
    1) Cut Petty
    2) Keep hack
    3) Trade for cousins and sign him to a LTD
    4) Draft a QB in the late rounds (5-7) as a 3rd string I like furgeson he's tall (6-4) but a little skinny and will need to bulk up, same knock brady has coming out of college he's shown good decision making (36TDs to 9 Picks) and accuracy (63%) He needs to work on his progression and vision and bulk up but could be a good project QB to have. He has shown to be good under pressure and keeps his eyes downfield when scrambling and buying time and has arm talent. could make a decent career backup or possible molded into a starter down the road

You don’t need to trade for cousins.

Yes you do. Washington isn't letting him walk with no compensation. they will tag him

Cousins will sign that tag. The tag is gonna be $34M. Washington can't afford that, they cannot put the tag on him again. He's hitting FA.

I'm highly skeptical of doing this, but just for conversation's sake, what about Case Keenum? He's having a hell of a season and what if it's not a fluke? Is he a system fit here?

they can tag and trade him and the whole amount goes away then. They have 54 mil plus 2 mil carryover so 56mil to spend. they can hold onto 34 mil for a month or so while they work out a deal.

A lot of teams will be after Cousins, but in the end I think he ends up back in Washington. Snyder will find away to keep him.

As far as the Big 3:
    Darnold-Browns
    Rosen-NYG
    Allen-Broncos

We need a miracle on Sunday. A giants win, Colts loss, and Broncos win.

I like him but i don't see minn letting him walk. They will cut ties to bradford or bridgewater since keenum is cheap and keep keenum as the backup.

After the season he's had I don't think he'll settle for a backup job

Dam I didn't realize all 3 of their Qbs were free agents. that makes things better for us then. They have to choose 1 to keep as the starter and i agree keenum will look to start somewhere or at least compete. same goes for bridgewater and bradford. that makes the pool of Qbs ever better. Minn has to choose between keenum and bridgewater I can't see them bringing back bradford.

No way do they place tender on him. Not for 34m and the risk of no one trading the picks needed. They can’t afford that

it makes more sense to do it and get a 5th round pick in return then to let him walk for nothing. the fact they won't keep him lowers what they can get, but they can still get a decent pick for him. even if it's like a 2nd and a 4th

nobody lets a franchise QB walk for free in the NFL. just doens't happen

Not many (if any for that matter) can give him 30-40 in year one. There’s no way he stays in Washington if he wants any shot st winning. Washington is a dumpster fire without him and average with him. The nfc is also a gauntlet compared to the afc. And in 3-4 years he could very well be the best qb in the afc after Brady Ben Rivers Flacco retire.
