Adams played SS / FS and nickel corner. Adams had a very solid combine too ... the one thing I questioned about Adams coming into the draft was his center-field ability. I think Adams will have a much better year next year after an off-season, this league nowadays, safeties are much more important IMO. Needs to really look at the tape and improve his technique. This year he's been in the box so much helping out in the run game, his value was diminished cause of Lee and those linebackers. Berry is very special though, if Adams can improve his coverage skills, I think he will be well on his way. Adams needs to work on those hands. At least 3 dropped interceptions this year.
He was not exclusively a 3-4 DE prospect; that's what we are using him as. Still d-linemen are higher on the value pole than RB; hence the higher franchise tag. Note I didn't say it was a premium position, I said it was "more premium" than RB.
The crazy thing is he's had two top 10 picks, very high picks in each round in two drafts yet the best/most impactful player he's brought in is Robbie Anderson. It'll be a shame if he doesn't get to 1,000 yards in 2017 because he had to play with Petty in the last three games of 2017. Leonard Williams, Maye, Adams I haven't seen it with those guys yet.
lol u can't be serious.. Idzik threw the season under the bus. He obviously was not listening to Rex. He was the worse GM this organization will ever see. I say that with confidence as I don't believe you could possibly draft worse, or do a worse job constructing an overall team.
Williams, Adams, Maye, and Anderson all have very good shots at future Pro Bowl appearances. Other players still stand a chance to improve, and there's a good chance we will be talking about someone else next season. that's not bad after 3 years. next draft is huge... 4 picks in the top 100.
I never said Idzik was any good, as a matter of fact they both were bad, and Rex was only with Idzik for 2 season, what happened to the bad drafts before that when it was Rex and Tanny from 2009 through 2013 before Idzik took over? The cupboard was bare well before Idzik got here.
Tannebaum had good and bad moments here, but that is irrelevant to the terrible job that Idzik did. Idzik's job was to identify talent through the draft and FA, and he spectacularly did neither. to blame that on the coaching staff (which Idzik through under the bus) is a cop out. the coaching staff had very little influence on Idzik which was clear.
Ridiculous. Utter BS! Has Mac made mistakes? Yes, but to say that he hasn't made good FA additions to the team and hasn't taken one of hte best five players available is patently untrue, particularly when you don't know how the Jets rated players, and how players would or wouldn't have fit into the Jets' schemes. You also have no knowledge of how much input Bowles may have had into draft decisions.
You don't draft a player for one season. Just because Adams wasn't the best rookie safety on the Jets this season doesn't mean that he won't be the best safety, or maybe even best defensive player over the longhaul. I swear some of the stupid ass comments I see on this site.
Since we don't have access to the lockeroom how are we to determine that? P prefer my leaders to do it on the field low, key and mouth shut. Those are the type that people will follow into battle. Adams has shot his mouth off too much already and needs to shut up and learn how to cover someone. Maye might be the better player anyway.
This is the Jets. When has a player gotten better with time. Did Sanchez improve? No he's remembered for a butt fumble. How bout Hackenberg? Wilkerson, Pryor, Wilson, Vlad, Coples and Geno. Enunwa has but we will have to see after his year off.
You cant give Mac credit if Adams or Williams make the pro bowl one day. Those were guys who had to be pro bowl level in order to justify where they were selected.
Bryan Thomas and DBrickashaw Ferguson. Thomas was considered a bust until his fourth season when Mangini came on board and switched over to a 3-4. DBrick had a shaky first season at LT, but seemed to Improve every year. Guys like Wilkerson, Revis, and Harris were good from their rookie season on. Landon Collins also made the jump in his second season across town. That said I dont see it with Adams. I think he is nothing more than a slight upgrade over Rontez Miles.
Message to all those complaining about Jamal Adams being Mac's pick from the draft? GET OVER IT It's not like you can rewrite the draft playing Monday morning QB and get all of your picks correct. And don't gushing about the Texans QB now as well. He played really well but in a very short sample size. Opponents never even got the chance to see what he did well so they could design a defense to stop him. He wasn't playing long enough. Lets see how well Watson with the chips down next season after going through a very arduous recovery from ACL surgery. You may not be running your mouths after that? Jamal Adams is a good player. If you thought you were getting the next Ed Reed, you're an idiot. But Adams is still a very good player whose barometer is still pointing upward. It was a good choice and one I am not interested in changing. Now, I know you guys are pissing and moaning because you think Mac missed out on a franchise QB, but it is what it is. Stop bitching because it isn't about to change. Mac has a golden opportunity to get us a franchise QB in this draft. Lets see what happens........
??? I think any rational Jets fan realizes that the Adams pick was a mistake. Before the draft I actually posted a thread stating that its the worst pick the team could have made and I look totally on point. Also how are we set up well for a QB? You do realize that this is a three QB draft and none will be available when we pick. Bozo Mac screwed the franchise big time with the Adams pick. Of course there will still be Jets fans like you who overrate guys like Adams and Williams until the very end.
His best pick up without a doubt is the undrafted free agent, Robby Anderson. Other than that there has been no magic from his 22 draft picks. Some decent players, but nothing that will win awards. Mediocre Mac.
LOL Anyone with any intelligence at all knows that has absolutely nothing to do with my comment. I can't help it if Jets games aren't shown in my area. I saw Adams play a LOT at LSU and I know what kind of player he is. If there's a problem with his play on the Jets, it isn't Adams, it's how he's being used or misused by those clueless tools Bowles and Rodgers. If you're going to try to insult me or discredit my opinion, at least try to be original and use your brain if you have one. Unlike you and some other posters here, I've been honest. I don't pretend to see things that I haven't. I don't comment on in-game situations, play calling, or things I can't judge by not having seen them play. There are thing I can comment on based on the comments of posters I respect, reading recaps, reading articles, and watching highlights on NFL.com, and looking at the stats.
2015 1. Draft was terrible. Only one leauge average DT drafted 6th overall to come out of it. 2. Signed free agent busts Revis, Cromartie, Skrine. 2016 1. Draft was terrible. Lee is a first round bust and Hackenberg is a 2nd round bust. 2. The Fitzpatrick contract disaster 2017 1. Potentially passed on two franchise QBs to draft a box safety who cant cover or tackle. Lets fire Bowles and give this guy an extension. The organization is in great shape with all the young talent he brought in.
