Offensive line sucks and has been for a long time now. I realize there are so few good offensive lines in the league, but the scarcity of the position means that they need to be addressed. I'd rather get Cousins and a stud left tackle if possible.

I've been saying this since the end of last year. 5-11 record should get us the 8-10 pick in the 1st round. What's Mac gonna do with Mayfield, Jackson and Allen sitting on the board?

Am I? The best player available will be Arden key a pass rushing defensive end and we will need to replace Mo. Todd hates rookie qbs and there will be some this free agency to over pay for

It's just common knowledge. He doesn't want to start a young kid when his job could be on the line "Alex smith gives us the best chance to win" trust me I want to draft a qb but it's not happening

I don't think this is common knowledge, or anything factual. Bowles gave Petty and Hack every shot to grab that job from McCown and failed. You see Petty now, and now you know why he's been on the bench. Granted a 4th round pick, not much of an investment. A player has to prove and show he's earned the starting position. You cannot just give someone the job, that's detrimental to the locker room.

Also, Mac I think there's a HUGE shot to grab the a QB, and if that QB is deemed ready, Bowles will start them.

And what makes you believe mac will do the right thing? Was it drafting hack, or passing on Watson that lead you to believe in him

Don't waste your time. Members like Laxg have all the inside scoop and cold facts. You'll just embarrass yourself with any kind of logic. (common knowledge HAHAHAHA......gold, Jerry, gold!)

The draft board will dictate it for him. Mac knows this teams needs a QB, the team is in a complete cross-roads in terms of the QB position. The question is, will he draft the right one and will he fix the offensive line, something he hasn't prioritized in the past?

I see mac viewing qb as soooo important that he will sign a cousins or some other place holder so he won't be at mercy of the draft board then take a guy after the first round to develop then be incapable of doing so... seems more like mac

Even if he's inclined to, I have no confidence that Mac will pick the right quarterback, given that he evaluated, then selected, the first QB in NFL history to be drafted in the first two rounds and not take a single regular season snap in his first two seasons.

To each his own but I don't view him as a guy who can win a chip. Some see otherwise and I respect the opinion but he just doesn't do it for me at all

The Jets are going to pick between 4th and 8th depending on how various games go tomorrow and next week, and a highly rated QB will still be available then, so Mac has the opportunity to get the job done, despite the lunacy of playing McCown until December this year. Even if he wants to move up, other than the top 2 picks it won't cost too much to move up from that spot if there's someone they really want. Will he do it? And if he does will he pick the right guy? No idea.

Edit: those draft positions are assuming the Jets don't make the monumentally stupid mistake of beating the Pats next week.

To the OP I agree. I want to believe though that with another loss to close out the year we will further better our draft position and possibly land a QB. Unfortunately, we will be competing with a ton of other teams for a QB but we also don’t know how free agency will shake out and what the jets mite do there.

Ultimately, the jets are pretty much that team that is stuck in a perpetual
State of mediocrity. Bad enough to never make the playoffs good enough to squeak out way too many wins to finally have a real shot at selecting a QB with the first overall pick. Right now, all we can hope for is for things to break right. I’m not sure who’s coming back for 2018, but I do know that if the results aren’t drastically better next season I think the reset button has to be pressed. Can’t go on this path of non playoff football and winning games with ancient journeymen QB’s and expect to get away with it forever. This fan base is impatient and incredibly frustrated with this team and I think ownership knows it.
