His drop steps are so slow and he is not getting his head up to look down field. He is his own worst enemy right now. That last scramble, the first time Petty looked up, the Chargers were in the backfield. But if Petty dropped, planted and got his head up. He would have had plenty of time to get the ball out. People will miss that play because it had a positive outcome but it really was poor mechanics that started that.
Feel sorry for him? Guy made $2 million doing a job he's horrible at. He's even convinced a few people here that his employer is the reason he's terrible. What's there to feel sorry for? Usually people who are blatantly terrible at their job get fired, not make $2 million.

Petty is finished in NY. He's playing his last games here. Its always a sad day when a Man realizes his dream will never happen. Time for Petty to move on to the next phase of his life wherever that takes him.
I said this in the game thread. The coaches needed to put Petty in the shotgun way earlier. His abysmal drop back was costing a ton of completions.
Anyone on here defending Pettys accurancy is either blind or clueless. High school quarterbacks are more accurate.
How can you as a coaching staff watch the film from this week and NOT start Hackenberg in the final game? Petty has shown some really poor decision making and as the title states very inaccurate badly timed throws. It's time to see what all of the extra time sitting and practice has done for Hack, the time is now and we need to know prior to the off-season.
Petty makes me miss sanchez.....and that's not a compliment to Sanchez.....just that a third string QB on the bears is better than our current starter.
No more Big 12 QB's please (I'm looking at you Baker Mayfield). Anyone who watches College FB knows that they play no Defense in that league and seeing guys open by 20 yards is a common occurrence. Not a real test of an NFL QB.

Bring on Baker Mayfield. It's obvious Mac Needs to select two QB's. Petty and Hack are garbage. Mayfield is a cream of the crop QB that is right in our wheelhouse at 8.
