If it was the first time, first time this season, hell, first time this month, I'd agree. It's habitual though. When he was benched for the start of the first quarter, it was reported that he had been late a few times recently prior to the benching. I assume the team did not believe him, and considering that there are still ongoing discussions regarding his future with the team , I'd also assume he could not convince them otherwise. If there had been a true emergency situation with his son, I don't think Bowles would have benched him and if he did, his teammates would be outraged and defending him. Bowles is far from a disciplinarian. He really is a players coach and would have publicly supposed Wilkerson.
The D really didn't miss him and they seemed to play pretty well through the second half without him and Williams. That odd clause is in every NFL contract. Pretty much the only guarantee in NFL contracts. Some guys play the game for money and once they get paid, it's over. Some just love the game and can't imagine life without it. I think Mo is comfortable with where he is financially and doesn't have that love for the game.
He was arrested and charged with careless driving , and failure to maintain his lane, I remember he was facing worse charges but fortunately no one was seriously injured. I agree, people make mistakes, I Know I've made my share . But when you add all the mistakes up, it becomes an issue. The arrest, the ejections for fighting, sneaking out after bed checks , the continued lateness, missed meeting, more lateness. It's not acceptable, especially from a veteran, who is being very well paid, and has not performed on the field at all. Mo is not a leader, not even a good example to the young guys . It's time to move on from him. I have no doubt that he will have a career year next season as he will be on a one year prove it deal, but it will be some other teams problem in 2019 when he takes the money and runs, or sleeps in in this case.
Something is weird about that, because they usually don't detain you for careless driving and failure to maintain a lane. Usually they just give you the tickets. There must have been something else going on that we don't know about. Yeah I do feel like I've misjudged Wilkerson over the years. I thought he was going to step it up, but he's just fallen off the planet. I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now.
Or could have been someone who has issues being on time and always has an excuse came up with a new one
I agree with everything here except for Mo having a career year next year. Im pretty confident his best years are behind him
Agreed. I'm willing to bet that the 3 late incidents that we know about are only the tip of the iceberg. He's probably one of those types of people that is always late for everything, so Bowles was sick of it. Even if the excuse about his kid was true, it was probably the last straw in a long series of events. I feel like such a tool for backing Wilkerson all these years and making excuses for him. I regret buying his jersey.
