There will be talented QB prospects available when the Jets pick, which will likely fall between 7-10. This is Macs last chance to get it right at this position, nothing we can do but hope he don’t F it up.
Very possible but from a cap space perspective, they're not in the greatest position. They can cut Aqib Talib to save 11 million in cap, cut Bradley Roby to save 8.5 mil and CJ Anderson for another 4.5 but other than that. Right now they're at 31m in cap space heading into next season. So yea they could afford him but it would come at the expense of making no other moves to really make the team better and also they're losing 2 players in the secondary with the cuts above. I would assume they'll make a push for him but Cousins isn't going to sign unless the money follows suit. I think he'll be asking for 28 mil annually.
No chance of a QB with the draft order. We’ve fucked ourselves with another mid-range record and wasted another year to fix things. I don’t believe we have the ammunition to trade up, even with the Richardson pick. No doubt we’ll take “the best defensive player” in the draft when all the QBs get taken in the first 5-6 picks.
The only thing is Maccagnan will know that without drafing a QB or going after Cousins he'll undoubtedly be losing his job next season. You can't skirt by with journey men QB's and no playoffs in 4 years and get away with it.
MAC is too BPA driven & Bowles hates young QBs/Only cares about defense. No chance in hell we draft a QB. I’m finding it even harder to believe they’ll go O..if they do it’ll be an OL.Same old bullshit
Wouldn't mind if they drafted o-line though. If we get Cousins you're gonna have to protect him and he won't fair well next season without a good o-line in front of him. Our o-line is on the mediocre side so picking up 2 olinemen with our first and one of our second round picks wouldn't be the worst if we magically land Cousins
It won’t be magic that lands us cousins. Well not real magic, the same magic that gets the fat ugly dude at the bar that hit chick hanging around all nite.$$&
Bridgewater may be $15M per season cheaper than Cousins. But there's absolutely nothing we could do with that $15M that would be as valuable as the difference between Cousins and Bridgewater. Also Cousins may be older, but considering Bridgewater's knee, Cousins will probably last longer.
I agree that OL is a weakness & that if they did sign Cousins Ol would be the logical position to target early in the draft. That said I'm vehemently opposed to bringing in Cousins & doing so along w. the OL doesn't signal change in my estimation, This team needs dynamic playmakers at the skill positions..starting w a QB...this team simply does not prioritize that segment of the roster. Overpaying Cousins doesn't make us contenders b.c he isn't a franchise QB. The improved OL will help but we've had good OL's in in recent memory & beyond; It doesn't signify change. Not interested in a wildcard spot or the likes....I want a dominant legit sustained super bowl caliber team. Anything short of that doesn't interest me.
Well Cousins is light years ahead of any QB's we've had in recent memory and I would think if you sign him up and then surround him with o-line help, a lot of the games we lost this year due to stupid 4th quarter mistakes would go away. He's not tom brady, but I think you can win with Kirk Cousins. Drafting a QB does not help you if the people in charge of drafting don't know how to draft. Macc has now essentially whiffed on 2 QB's. Unless you're saying we're going to get rid of Maccagnan, signing Cousins would make it impossible for him to whiff on another QB. And again, I totally get the whole draft your QB and have sustained success for 15 seasons but we are the Jets and nothing Maccagnan or Bowles has done indicates we can have that kind of success through the draft.
Cousins isn't coming to the Jets if ownership keeps LAME DUCK COACH Todd Bowles. So if you want the Jets to sign Kirk "Romo" Cousins this coming off-season, whom I have no desire to see the Jets sign to a huge contract, then you better join the Fire Todd Bowles movement.
Oh so would I..in a heartbeat. But that's not what we should strive for...it isn't a sustainable model for success. Additionally a fluky run requires some bounces & breaks along the way. Do those things ever happen for the Jets( Woe is me alert...sorry sunshiners)
