Has he been been set up to be in a position to make interceptions ? I can remember 3 definite chances of an interception but he didn't catch the ball still a pass defended at least lol he really does seem to be all over the field, can't be easy for a rookie, most get a position to settle into.
I agree with the Revis part, that's the way I remember his rookie year as well. I disagree with the Adams part. He has shown enough to justify his high draft position, and I'm a guy who wanted Watson. I'm reminded of the oft quoted adage that if DB's had hands they'd be WR's.
Let me clarify this post for those who dont understand my intent or its purpose. Adams is not to be blamed for being picked #6...again i am questioning management and our constant misses in the first round. He is not the worst safety and i hope he gets better. Im happy for all the young men who get the opportunity to play the game they say they love. Adams gets an A for effort but will effort alone qualify him for the big pay day after his rookie contract is over? Leadership...yes...very vocal...so was Demario when the media coined him to be Ray Lewis like. He talked like Ray Lewis but tackled like Ray Charles. Now he is back and deserves all accolades that come with producing. There is no successful industry in the USA that pays people solely on how well the jump around and make noise. Oops im wrong...cheerleaders! He has to produce or again management has to be questioned or replaced.
Y'all still throwing dirt on Adams name? When he's being asked to play multiple hats on defense and is being groomed in the same roll Eric Berry is for the Chiefs? Yes he hasn't gotten a pick but so what? This dude is all over the field and is making good plays and being in the right spots. I think the next point in his development is to start taking those chances to make explosive plays. He had his hands on a ball he could have picked off last week so hes getting close. I feel like this week he's going to have his best game. I feel he's close to making those plays now. I have no worries about Adams game.
What big play? Failing to break up that big completion to Thomas in the 4th right after Maye whiffed on a tackle earlier? Yea two bigtime safeties right there. Real difference makers
If you are drafting people at 6 and lower they need to be game changers. Macc hasn't gotten squat on this roster that we can call a game changer. If you also are drafting back to back players at the same position they better be freaking stellar, especially when you got major holes all over your roster.
I didn't like the pick then and don't like it now. Maye was a good pick for a 2nd rounded but they should have made a decision and taken only one of them.
I don't think he was the best player they could have gotten.Watson or Mahomes was the best they could have gotten. Safety was not a priority and taking two of them certainly was not. We have 3 QB on the roster and they all suck balls. Until they fix that the Jets will be hot garbage.
It's easy to micro-manage all the players if the QB's are, as you noted 'garbage'. They desperately needed help at the safety position - it can't always look at it like 'well, the other positions suck, but lets do half ass job at fixing lesser problem area. Now, the Jets will not have to worry about that position foe the next 6-7 years.
As "desperately" as they needed help at Safety they "double desperately" needed (need) help at the QB position. If the Petty Haters are right and Petty's mechanics are so messed up he can't even be a backup, and the 3rd stringer guy is even worse - all of this SHOULD'VE been known before the last FA/Draft, and yet the "genius" Macc skips over two excellent prospects at QB to take 2 safeties! I think that was a major mistake.
How was safety not a priority? Do you not remember how bad the secondary played last year? Mahomes still hasn't played a snap.
I hate this Team..2017 was the stupidest 2 selections in a long time Maye and Adams were the big winners The Jets draft like we are already scoring 40 points a game and we are just missing guys on D to help us win a Championship Lee Maye Adams all terrible selections..gotta see them action...big whoop
Passing on Watson is the worst mistake the franchise has made in a long time. Still can't believe we took Adams when a franchise QB was sitting there for the taking.
They mentioned during the game that he's played more snaps in the box than any safety in the league this season. Hard to record INTs from there. He's made a ton of tackles around the LOS which is what they're calling on him for. In that regard he has more than delivered.
The Jets should be addressing that critical position every year until they get it right. Nobody drafts two safeties at the top of their draft. Between the both of them they have ONE interception and Adams coverage skills are horrible. Neither will be on the Jets in 6-7 years. For once in the last decade I wish they would take two OT or 2 WR's. Trying to continually get by with subpar talent at critical positions is tough to watch every week and every year.
Newsflash the secondary is still bad. I could have seen a different scenario. One safety and one cornerback. That would have made so much sense. If you are taking basically a strong safety at 6 he better be more well rounded and a much better player than Adams. How many cornerback have they ran out there this year? How open are receivers running in the Jets secondary. I guess we can expect Macc to draft two corners back to back this year. We got freaking rainman making selections for the Jets. Stuck on stupid come draft time. Saying Mahomes has'nt thrown a pass makes no sense. KC has a QB and yet they still traded up to get another one. How forward thinking is that.?
