First let me say this: AHAHAHAHAHAHA TANK ON TANK ON TANK ON And: Poor Petty ..Time to use that degree>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Teaches his way up to Superintendent in Home District Hackenberg... Bright Future>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>CEO Waste Management or Supply Chain Management Move on boys.... From what I hear Bowles went to Madame Lafayette the most famous Psychic in New Orleans..... She told him she had a vision of him standing next to a Bekins Moving Van...
Petty has gotten more chances than many QBs picked in the 4th rd before him. He has now fallen flat on his face in each of those chances. I’d give Hack the last two games and then more than likely move on from both at the end of year.
It's becoming more clear that this coaching staff is lacking in training young QB's. All the points you mentioned come down to NFL QB 101.
Well, nobody does. How many 1st round qbs have come and gone? Winston doesnt look great, and neither does mariota. Wentz and goff are gods compared to them. Case keenum is killing it in Minnesota, he was run out of Houston. For some god awful reason, Miami is insistent that Cutler start over moore. Lets not forget the blunder Chicago just made with Glennon. Its not just the Jets, there is a talent deficiency in the league period and because of that, teams dont know what to look for when it comes to a starting qb. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
When you get a chance, look at you tube video of Luke Falk. Disregard the offense he plays in, just watch his footwork, his progression through receivers and how accurate he is, his mechanics are NFL ready. Let me know what your opinion is. I have a man crush on him because I believe once he gets to the nfl and is surrounded by professionals he will be a very good NFL QB.
The biggest problem Petty had was that he threw some balls into the dirt. The good thing about throwing low is that the ball can't be easily intercepted if the receiver does not catch it. What is unclear is why he was throwing low. Too conservative? He was rushing the throws? He was afraid to throw it too high? Poor mechanics? Geno Smith blew many games usually by throwing multiple pick sixes (three in the first half of the Buffalo game before they put Vick in there) and people would defend him like he was the next Johnny Unitas. Petty has had zero snaps in practice until this week. Our offensive line and receiving core is not all that good. Josh McNown has been making something out of nothing all year until he was injured. Anyone who was expecting a pro bowl performance was kidding themselves. We have two more games where McNown is hurt and Hackenberg is not ready so we may as well roll with it.
Well I don't think you can "nobody does". Clearly SOME teams DO know. I agree that it's hard to judge talent when you're looking at them playing in a completely different game almost, but some guys can do it...just not anyone on the Jets. And my point still is: why are you and everyone blaming Petty but not the CS/GM?
Will do. To me mechanics are more important that the offense they play in, so if theyre consistent, he can learn everything else. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
You get what im saying tho. We sometimes as fans think every other team has it figured out amd its not true. Many teams stuggle like we do with finding a qb. And petty deserves blame. He just doesnt have the talent. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Let’s not forget Brett Hundley, who single handedly carried UCLA to relevance, was available and Mac took Petty, who was clearly a system QB. Hundley was better in college than Petty, and has been better in the NFL. Nobody should be shocked at his ability at this point. As long as Mac is drafting we are likely screwed at QB.
Yeah, but we haven't found one since Namath - unless you want to include Kenny (which means you think taking him over Marino was "genius"). In that time the better teams have found several. We've sucked for decades, spanning two owners and numerous GMs and HCs, so what do you think the problem is?
I'm fine with seeing Petty the next two games. He made a few excellent throws, but he kept missing easy ones in the dirt or way over receivers' heads. What I don't get is this whole conspiracy theory thing with the FO and coaches not wanting Petty to succeed. He was drafted by Mac with Bowles as the coach. Why wouldn't they want him to develop? Isn't it more likely that he just hasn't looked good so they're hesitant about playing him?
John Elway did not exactly light the world on fire his first few years in the NFL, look it up. I think the poster was alluding to getting timing routes down. I remember watching Elway early in his career. He struggled immensely.
Pennington had the smarts, just not the arm. I dont think he was bad. We were just limited with him. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
John Elway had some extremely bad games in his rookie year. Among his problems was throwing the ball too hard for his receivers to catch. Look at the stats if you don't believe me.
I don't think there's a "conspiracy"...just incompetence on Bowles and his coaches and Macc for drafting him.
Frankly, I wouldn't disagree. Jets fucking up QB prospects isn't anything new anyway. P.S. I somehow omitted this, but the OL wasn't helping at all. McCown hid the deficiencies up front, but with Petty, OL looks like the disaster that we all thought they were.
