WHY are they calling the game as if Petty were a rookie QB making his first NFL start? This is terrible to watch.

This guy is in his third year what's he been doing while he hasn't been playing? Or better question what have these coaches been doing with him during that time? It sure doesn't look like they've been getting him ready.

Petty could stink to high heaven he might be that bad but he has NO CHANCE with the way these coaches are calling the game with him in there.

Williams makes a great defensive play before the first half, O is set up in scoring position we get three points such BS.

Petty looks scared out there SCARED OF MAKING A MISTAKE. A team can play that way when the team around him is good enough to pull games out without getting production from the QB that isn't this team.

Where are the bombs to Robbie Anderson? Throw it deep!!!! Where's Kearse?

I'm supposed to believe that only Josh McCown is capable of running this offense?

The scary thing is this is the regime that's gonna be picking the next #1 draft pick QB in 2018.

    F'n clueless.

What can they possibly be "finding out" about Bryce Petty with the coaches calling the game like this?

Look at Buffalo they started the rookie Peterman he was awful 5 picks in a half is that what it was? but they found something out about him they found out he wasn't any good went back to Tyrod Taylor.

Let Petty play really play sink or swim if he's awful he's awful at least we'll KNOW he's awful.

He's thrown the ball 18 times so far. He's terrible. There's nothing to ruin if it's already bad.

Maybe, but he's missed a LOT of throws. Wish they would let him loose more though. Evaluating Petty is the most important thing that could come from this game

It would be nice if they actually played with 11 men on the field

My god he sucks. Awful decisions and awful throws. The receivers are getting visibly frustrated too.

I think Jets fans saw what they needed to see out of Bryce Petty today? He is not, nor will he ever be NFL starting material. He might, and I emphasize might, be a decent backup someday? But he's not a good backup right now. He needs a lot of work to even become a decent backup. I also don't think the Jets should be spending any more time trying to develop him. He's had 3 years now and he's simply incompetent. It's time to move on.

OP are you kidding me? You don't remember that the Jets got McCown to play like a top 15 QB? Face it, Petty sucks.

It IS possible that there's a good reason they're afraid to let Petty do anything - cause they knew he can't. I know that's revolutionary thinking around here since usually management's pretty clueless but on this one they look right on the money so far. Confidence has nothing to do with spiking three-yard throws, that's just bad technique.

Bryce's problems are in full display today.

His biggest problem is his mechanics. There is no doubt about it. His footwork is a total mess. Let me clarify.

If his first read - his primary read - is open, then Petty will be completely fine. No problem. The moment he must go through progression, his mechanics break down. Which leads to *GULP!* inaccurate throws.

Compounding this mess of a footwork is his fucking vision. He has his eye sights LOCKED ON to the primary read. BEFORE THE SNAP. It is a wonder that he completed near 50% of his passes. If he had learned to look elsewhere, he probably wouldn't have thrown that pick either, as Forte was open nearby.

His throwing motion in the upper body looks fine rather - Yeah. That's about all the positive I could find today. Unless Petty can fix these two issues, he will not make far beyond his rookie contract. I wouldn't get him in a backup role. Seriously, fucked up footwork affects the accuracy regardless of the range. I am in fact appalled to find his mechanics this bad after 3 years. Did he learn nothing? Or did Bowles not give a single fuck about this kid? How did this happen?

P.S. And to think Petty's footwork is indeed a million times better than Hackenberg's....

Ugh. Somebody, be a good man and shoot me. Preferably right between the eyes.

That was one of the worse qb performances from start to finish I have seen in some time

It all stems from the clueless, trifling uber conservative Bowels. The guy is scare of his own shadow and does not need to be coaching anymore Jets games.

If we had McCown today the way he has been this year, we win this game.

The Petty love here is getting to reach ridiculous proportions, it is clear he cannot even hold Geno’s jock strap has a QB and that’s bad.
