Hated it. Only explanation for the rave reviews are hard drugs or Disney bought Rotten Tomatoes. Spoiler: Don't Click If You're Still Considering Wasting Your Money Kylo killed Snoke halfway through and the First Order is now under the control of a bratty teenager who wouldn't last a minute against Darth Maul. JJ Abrams will need more than the Force to salvage Episode IX.
That was a pretty amazing scene though tbh. Although the end result was frustrating for me. How did you make a spoiler warning button?
It's the + icon directly to the right of the ones you click to attach an image or video. Spoiler: To continue our discussion The scene was cool, I appreciate when a movie can shock me because that doesn't happen often. For a minute I thought Rey was going to join Kylo in the dark side, and they were going to become the villains. When that didn't happen, I expected Snoke to reveal himself as alive at the end of the movie. But neither happened; all we got was Luke and Rey owning Kylo with a cheap projection and some rock lifting. Which means the First Order is now completely useless, and there's nothing left for Episode IX. I would have been less disappointed if Snoke revealed himself as Darth Jar Jar.
Cool that you made that spoiler icon. I didn't know we could! Spoiler: Huge SHOCKING Spoiler Todd Bowles does not like Bryce Petty or Christian Hackenberg and wishes he could start a 1-Armed McCown instead. I liked The Last Jedi a lot. I need to see it a second time though. I thought the BIGGEST and most loyal Star Wars fans could potentially have the biggest problems with it as it does a lot with characters they love and spend a lot of time speculating about.
Absolutely horrible. Worse than any of the prequels. At least the story of the prequels, the rise of the Sith and extermination of the Jedi, were interesting, even if they were poorly executed. These sequels aren’t about anything interesting at all and poorly executed.
Put a spoiler tag in and explain why. I was also let down, but still thought it was better than episode 1, and 2.
Damn it, I was totally let down...What a clusterfuck. Waste of characters and plot. What the hell is going on with Rotten Tomatoes nut-hugging every single Disney film they ever release? There are some hot garbage films that have such a great score...Iron Man 2 and 3, Age of Ultron, many more
Spoiler Were those red karate fuckers the Knights of Ren?...I hope not, I imagine JJ Abrams tries to use them in the last film
The issue is, they dont make sense and don't fit into anything we have come to know Spoiler Snoke was never, explained at all, the rise of the first order makes zero sense when you know the entire empire was destroyed in the Return of the Jedi, so not only did they come back, but they retook control of the entire galaxy? Please...... The only story line that made sense to me, was that Snoke was Darth Plagueis, AKA the one who conceived Anakin Skywalker, and the whole thing was going to come full circle, with the Skywalker bloodline ending its creator, which did technically happen (kylo ren killing the man who created Darth Vader, which I believe Snoke did mention, right or wrong?)......and yeah snoke "died", but Yoda was dead to and he sure like he still was just as powerful if not more powerful. So we might not be seeing the end of him. I still dont buy, Rey being a complete random person, its a nice story, and I dont know if Disney is going to try and turn this into a love affair in episode 9 but there are clearly hints at. I thought she might have been the twin, or perhaps Obi Wans grandaughter or something....
Spoiler Where do I start? First ten minutes I thought I was watching Spaceballs 2. Leia dying/flying through space. I disliked the new characters in TFA and they are just as terrible in this one. Their story arcs aren’t interesting. The plot isn’t interesting. Luke Skywalker is terrible. Yoda looked horrible. Rey and Ren Force talking the entire movie. Who the fuck is Snoke? But who cares now anyways? The casino subplot was worthless and unnecessary. The story would have been better without the detour if Finn and Rose simply flew into the ship undetected. The code issue was an unnecessary plot device that didn’t raise the stakes. Benicio Del Toros character is the perfect avatar for this movie — hey, look, he stutters, isn’t that great character creation! I’m done with Star Wars. It’ll be interesting to see how well the next one does depending solely on the new characters.
Spoiler When Kylo chopped Snoke in half, there were two good ways R. Johnson could have gone. First was to have Snoke reassemble himself, proving he's the most powerful Darksider in Star Wars history. Would have been predictable but epic. Second was to have Rey turn to the Dark Side because of the temptation of ruling the galaxy and Kylo's reveal that her parents were nobodies. Then Luke could have fought Kylo and Rey and survived to become the protagonist in Episode IX knowing he's responsible for losing both of them. Instead Johnson did neither and put the First Order in the hands of Kylo and Hux who are both idiots.
Spoiler unfortunately Kathleen Kennedy doesn’t realize that the new characters aren’t interesting and truly thinks the brand name of Star Wars drives the success independent of the original characters so she wants to be rid of them. Star Wars is dead if its a story about Rey and Kylo Ren which it has now become. But the new movies are only successful because of the audience interest in the OT and characters, and we are going to start seeing a steep decline in the box office moving forward, all because of the concept that new audiences are going to be as engaged in the new characters as the old audience to the old characters, and they can abandon the old and be successful solely with the new. I think they are greatly mistaken.
You guys are on the Dark Side with these reviews and views. I like the new characters. Rey is awesome, Kylo Ren is awesome, Poe is a bad ass, BB-8 is cute, and Fin is good, though wasted in TLJ. Not sure where Episode IX is headed, but they did a good job in this one. Not sure what else you could have wanted.
