Since the polls weren't very good last year, we'll try something else this year. Every couple of weeks we can take the first round draft order and do a "quick draft." Rules: -You make a pick for the team that's OTC -You can make no more then 4 picks total for the round -You cannot pick for back-to-back teams -Make picks with 100% seriousness - a selection of the league's best punter at first overall will be discarded. -Yes you can draft anyone that's draft eligible this year (juniors that may or may not declare) but please try and keep it to guys like Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson who have seriously talked about coming out. (draft order as of 11/22) 1. Detroit Lions 2. Arizona Cardinals 3. Oakland Raiders 4. Houston Texans 5. Washington Redskins 6. Cleveland Browns 7. Tampa Bay Bucs 8. Tennessee Titans 9. Minnesota Vikings 10. St. Louis Rams 11. Green Bay Packers 12. Miami Dolphins 13. Pittsburgh Steelers 14. Buffalo Bills 15. Atlanta Falcons 16. New York Jets 17. San Francisco 49ers 18. Philadelphia Eagles 19. Cincinnati Bengals 20. Dallas Cowboys 21. New England Patriots (from Seattle) 22. Carolina Panthers 23. New Orleans Saints 24. Jacksonville Jaguars 25. Kansas City Chiefs 26. New York Giants 27. New England Patriots 28. Denver Broncos 29. San Diego Chargers 30. Baltimore Ravens 31. Chicago Bears 32. Indianapolis Colts I'll start off. 1. Detroit Lions select QB Brady Quinn, Notre Dame Kitna and McCown are both decent starting options, but that is all they are. In order to fully take care of the Mike Martz offense and the receiving depth there, they'll need a very intelligent QB with arm strength to guide them there. Oh and also, Quinn is going to be hyped as "the next Brady" with his experience under Weis. It's a match made in heaven, and almost a guaranteed pick at this point. Code: 1. Detroit Lions- QB Brady Quinn, Notre Dame 2. Arizona Cardinals- OT Joe Thomas, Wisconsin 3. Oakland Raiders- WR Calvin Johnson, Georgia Tech 4. Houston Texans- HB Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma 5. Washington Redskins- DE Gaines Adams, Clemson 6. Cleveland Browns- CB Leon Hall, Michigan 7. Tampa Bay Bucs- DE Quentin Moses, Georgia 8. Tennessee Titans- S LaRon Landry, LSU 9. Minnesota Vikings- QB Drew Stanton, Michigan State 10. St. Louis Rams- OLB/ILB Paul Posluszny, Penn State 11. Green Bay Packers- WR Dwayne Jarrett, USC 12. Miami Dolphins, ILB Patrick Willis, Ole Miss 13. Pittsburgh Steelers- OT Sam Baker, USC 14. Buffalo Bills- OT Justin Blaylock, Texas 15. Atlanta Falcons- WR Ted Ginn Jr., Ohio State 16. New York Jets- HB Marshawn Lynch, California 17. San Francisco 49ers- DT Alan Branch, Michigan 18. Philadelphia Eagles- CB Marcus McCauley, Fresno St. 19. Cincinnati Bengals- DE/OLB Lamarr Woodley, Michigan 20. Dallas Cowboys- OT Levi Brown, Penn State 21. New England Patriots (from Seattle) 22. Carolina Panthers 23. New Orleans Saints 24. Jacksonville Jaguars 25. Kansas City Chiefs 26. New York Giants 27. New England Patriots 28. Denver Broncos 29. San Diego Chargers 30. Baltimore Ravens 31. Chicago Bears 32. Indianapolis Colts
The Oakland Raiders select Calvin Johnson, WR Georgia Tech With Moss going and Porter checked out in his head as well, they need a playmaker with some character. CJ has the name, the skills, and the potential to make a difference on that offense from day one.
Now dwalsh beat me to it... hold on. Didn't Washington swap first rounders with Denver in one of those deals?
According to wikipedia, no http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_NFL_Draft#Traded_Picks So the Redskins select DE Gaines Adams, Clemson. An absolute pass rushing fiend, and DE is a spot the Skins are a little lacking at.
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers select DE Quentin Moses, Georgia. Simeon Rice and Greg Spires are both getting old, and we watch today on Thanksgiving as the mediocre Dallas offensive line pushed this defensive line up and down the field. They bring in Moses as the first step in rebuilding a defense that is eventually going to break down of old age.
8. Titans select LaRon Landry, S, LSU. Continue to build the secondary, and add impact players on defense.
Rams take Paul Posluzny. I'd say he's a poor man's AJ Hawk, and he doesn't look totally recovered from the injury but the guy's a stud
