Show me where I said they have a winning record this year. My math looks good ,giants are a mess right now,Mara is right macadoo and Reese should have never been hired and when did Christopher Johnson go to England? I am not as up to speed on his travel plans. Check your comprehension
For fans no coach is perfect. We are all experts. The Jets are on the right path. Let's see where it leads.
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...true-commitment-todd-bowles-article-1.3675072 Here's a message for the billionaire in the Winfield House in London: How much more evidence do you need? Listen to your brother, who’s been eyewitness to the beginnings of this transformation. Listen to the players, who have displayed the same resilience and character embodied by their leader. Listen to common sense after there was no way in hell that these Jets would compete for anything but historical ineptitude this season. It’s time, Woody Johnson. It’s time for the Jets to truly commit to Todd Bowles after it’s become abundantly clear that he’s the right coach to lead the Jets into the next phase of this methodical rebuild that began in earnest a year ago. Gang Green’s wildly entertaining 38-31 victory over the Chiefs on Sunday was the latest proof that Bowles deserves a commitment from the organization beyond next season. The player testimonials after the Jets matched their win total from last season were powerful. Leonard Williams: “I love Todd. He was the first person I ran up to and celebrated with after the game. I was so happy for him. I was so happy for the team…. He’s a great coach. I love to play for him. I’m glad he’s been able to impose his mindset on to the team.” Josh McCown: “His message never changed. He never wavered. He never complained. That was huge for us. That kind of steadiness for us is bearing fruit right now. It’s why we won the game today… because of how he handles himself and carries himself day in and day out.” Demario Davis: “He’s a great leader for us.” Here’s a little secret for the ill-informed mob ready to run Bowles out of town after last season: He’s always been a great leader. Woody and Christopher Johnson made it clear that Bowles’ future wouldn’t be tied to wins and losses, so I suppose it’s an unintended benefit that the Jets (5-7) are still lingering in the playoff conversation with four games left. About six months ago, Bowles had every reason to fold up his tent and quietly walk to the unemployment line amid a roster turnover that left little doubt that the Jets were stripping it down to the studs in order to build a proper foundation. He lost some veterans who were washed up and some that he wanted to keep around. He’s always been a company man even when that meant absorbing body blows that left him to figure out creative ways to make chicken salad out of his current ingredients. He did it quietly. He did it without complaining to folks willing and eager to record his discontent. “I love him,” said McCown, who went 26 for 36 for 331 yards, three touchdowns (2 rushing) with a 109.8 passer rating. “I’ll tell that to anybody that asks me. For as much as you see the roster turn over and how young we were, you need a steady guy. It’s easy for young guys to lose heart. He’s what we needed. That’s what’s kept us competitive.” Full disclosure: Bowles is one boring interview. Even when he proclaimed “it’s big to win one” after his team rallied from an early two-touchdown deficit, his voice barely rose above a whisper. He didn’t smile or gloat. Even his good quotes were boring. “It’ll be a process,” Bowles said. “We’re still growing up and will be growing up again next week. But for them to not flinch and come back from 14 down early and fight to the end is a credit to them.” It’s a credit to him, too. Bowles has handled the crucible of this mountain-out-of-a-molehill universe with aplomb. A lesser man would have gone clinically insane. “Considering this market and how demanding it is, I think you need somebody that’s steady,” McCown said. “There’s going to be ups and downs with this job, so you have to have somebody that won’t blink. That’s what Todd’s been for us.” He’s been hard, but fair. If you screw up, you’ll suffer the consequences like linebacker Darron Lee, who was inactive Sunday after being late for a walk-through practice on Saturday. Even self-proclaimed team leaders aren’t immune to discipline. Just ask Muhammad Wilkerson, who was disciplined for a game for the third consecutive season due to his inability to comply with team rules. (Wilkerson was benched for much of the first quarter after being late for a team meeting). “We have rules,” Bowles said. “We make rules. We have coach’s decisions. We make them and we move on.” Translation: We have too many players and coaches, who have bought into this culture shift, to be derailed by a couple of knuckleheads. The Johnson brothers wanted to use this season to fully evaluate the direction of their organization. It’s evident now that Bowles can inspire this franchise. What will change between now and the end of the regular season? Will the players magically quit on a man at the heart of everything they believe in? Will the young players, who have made strides, suddenly disappear? Will the locker room inexplicably fracture over the next four weeks? Of course not. It’s time, Mr. Ambassador.
Plus 10000 WTG NC ..insightful post ! It's like we are conditioned to expect failure from this team and we seize on any ray of hope Mac has drafted/picked up better players for the CS to work with (The Rebuilding) who are very self motivated ( hope it stays that way) Bowles could never stand alone with a poor supporting cast ...we saw the results of that in 2016 with Master Chan etc Now he has Morton and Kevin Green making him look semi decent even with poor game management and "adjustments" at halftime Bowles is 10-19 with his latest major victories over 2 bad teams KC and Buffalo..I guess that is an improvement for him Now we go on the road vs Denver and we NEVER win on the road..will Toddy break the trend??? Heheheh
10-19? what about the first seasons 10-6? why is that being left out? he is 20-25 which alone isn't great but considering his qbs its better than it could be. and greene is getting credit ? everyone is still clamoring for a pass rush and the coach who specialized in rushing the passer is getting this much credit? how high were you on morton last week when they gave away the panthers game?
Well, that decides it then. A guy gets to write his singular opinion in a newspaper so the die has been cast. The fact that the guy who wrote it is the man Jets fans love to hate; no, make that the guy Jets fans live to hate, is immaterial. The guy who hasn't had a clue since Miss Scarlett was caught lurking in the conservatory with a bloody lead pipe is now paving the highway to the Super Bowl for the Jets. I'm off to London to spread the news.
Mega rope????? He is finishing his 3rd season with a winning season and a losing season and so far an over achieving season. Um it will be a losing season this season. So what you should have said a winning season and two losing seasons. Johnson the older one that really owns the Jets is playing Ambassador. So expecting the little borther to be making these decision is scary enough. What is Woody gonna do phone in his decisions. Yeah he's no Dan Rooney. R-U-D-D-E-R-L-E-S-S! That’s mega rope? 3 years? In Jets land it is. Carroll 1 year, Kottitie 2 years, Groh 1 year, Bellicheck minutes, Parcells 2 years, Mangini 2 years. Herm and Rex are the grand daddies. Holy shit we are a joke of a fan base Yes, I agree with you on that. Its call Stockhom Syndrome. Cause by decades of losing.
You okay dude? I think you might have Blame Game Syndrome. You forgot Lou Holtz, Walton, and Coslet. There's a lot more things you could be a long suffering insufferable Jets fan over if you try harder. Then you'll never see a positive thing for the rest of your life and it will all work out for you. I mean we could prolly work the Titans into it, and even bring in Lucifer and the Curse Of Joe Willie if you'd like. Why isn't it a good thing that Woody's not around? Since when are we worried that that numbnut isn't making any football decisions? Seriously? Of all the the things to complain about. Wow Woody is kissing asses over in Britain so he can think he'll be involved in the next Military adventure with Britain. Dude's a fucking joke. Hopefully he never comes back. You cannot seriously be worrying about that guy can you?
Exactly. The Dolphins were too stupid to "tank" and look where that got them . Some fans just don't get it. Homer Jet fans are so stupid yuck yuck
Well, maybe this is a turning point. I didn't see the game, even though it actually was shown here in Colorado, but I had to work, but they finally came back and actually WON! Of course they needed a lot of help from the zebras and stupidity from the Chiefs to win, but they did win. But the turning point may be that Bowles FINALLY applied some discipline and benched the two idiots who thumbed their nose at the team rules. I hope this is the start of a new approach. Let's see if this carries forward, or if they slip backwards again. If they continue like this I can see Bowles coming back...not what I really want, but if he's finally going to demand accountability, and if he can improve his in-game adjustments and clock management, he's going to be given another shot.
Good Post Yep..learn how to get better at time management, game adjustments..get all the help you need and see what happens Didn't I post a while ago Bowles needs some after school tutoring? Capella and Univ of Phoenix have "Football For Dummies" courses How long was Bowles with the Cards or other teams..you would thing he knows something by now
Burnz I hate some posters as well..... especially those who resort to name calling ,intimidation and bullying Bowles MAYBE gets them to play hard .... But CS and proactive players is probably making that happen not him...playing hard and losing is fine by me because it reserves a good draft spot in April heheheheh
Totally agree with this 101. I remember at the beginning of the season there was zero, and I mean zero confidence by the experts that the offensive weapons at WR, QB even RB were NFL caliber. The Jets proved them dead wrong. Conversely I'm disappointed on our defense. I think the talent we have is better that the performance, personnel is underutilized and under coached all to hell. I just don't see Casey as a good fit at DC.
I'm not a fan of our defensive coordinator either, I agree. Bowles has done a good job getting the right coaching on the offensive side of the ball, but on defense, Bowles can do better. I would also argue special teams too, though the fans haven't complained about the punter recently. When's the last time we had a run back for a TD? Maybe we just need some more explosive players that can run one back or get us better position.
hahahaha so much win in this thread I swear to god the idiots posting these threads 15 minutes in are pimply faced 13-year olds in their mother's basementrs Notice that OP didn't show his face again after the first post
Really need to work on your comprehension bro. A winning season(2015) a losing season (2016) and an over achieving season. Not sure how you didn’t understand that. As for woody, if he is no dam roomey why is it a big deal that he is not here? Sounds like you are trying to have it both ways here. And pointing to our illustrious past as evidence as to why we should have a quick hook with Bowles, reallly? I mean really ? I was going to use the same argument to show why we need some patience. The quick hook hasn’t exactly worked for us.
Indeed 101, there is a part of me that says we are a lot farther along than people think, Thus it should be important that we continue to make small, well thought out surgical changes in areas of need, and not over react with a top to bottom house cleaning causing us to get back to square one. My thought on priority excluding the obvious draft target for a future FQB: 1- OL improvements, LT,C and one beastly OG 2- OLB that can consistently rush the passer 3- A technically savvy, adjust on the fly DC that can optimize the strengths of Williams and others on that DL 4- One God fearing punt/ kick off returner 5- A clock manager/time out expert for Bowles 6- a couple of draft gems in the later rounds to strengthen the CB position
Agree on 1-4, 5 seems like an oc/qb problem more than anything right now. Way too many wasted timeouts trying to get a play called We may already have your 6th point. Drafted 2 last year tha have been on the shelf. Completely agree that we are at the tweaking stage not the overhaul stage. I’m excited for the rest of this year and the offseason.
