Have you ever coached before? I ve coached pop warner, elementary, middle school and high school sports. Good teams are a combination of coaching and talent. Coaches stress specific details of the game, but they cant control what will happen when the game begins. Ive coached players that practice like lions and when the game begins they perform like pussy cats. Human beings respond to pressure and stress differently...their pain tolerances vary, their ability to recover is not the same. Cant blame everything on the coach. Was every test you failed in school the teacher's fault?
S Can only speak to Rosen bc Cimini wrote a big article about it.Mac was the most visible decision maker at the game even going down to the sideline..additionally the jets had something like 4 scouts at the game which was more than any other team There were also reports of them fixating on josh allen but nothing tangible to support that
again, basing it on twitter accounts yes, there are constant tweets of what teams are repped at the big games and the jets are always listed. although not at the iron bowl but you can argue the quality of the qb prospect there. are you about done with this minutia there, imitation bb?
Simply making the point that we have no way of making a comparison of how much energy any team is putting into a QB search. To swing the conversation a bit, am I the only one who finds it distressing that the Jets already seem to be focusing on one guy rather than keeping the broad view and an open mind?
but we do, every week reporters tweet out what teams are at games. the last 2 months it has come across the twitter feeds of people following the right reporters. and where does it say the jets are focusing one one guy. that they have done more work than others on allen does not mean they have not done the same amount of work on say, rosen or jackson, does it?
Actually, it looks like Rosen is the focus now, especially when you look at Kurt's comments above. Mac and four others watching Rosen? Regarding the first point, there are certainly more guys tweeting about what the Jets are doing than say, Cincinnati. If we're basing aggressiveness on tweet count, we've made a wrong turn somewhere. It's not the end of the world but there's no sense setting up scenarios based on tweets just as in the past we didn't do it based on newspaper reports.
Both? Obviously they wanna keep an open mind as much as possible bc of the endless scenarios & to respect the entire evaluation process. On the other,QB often comes down to conviction..sometimes something is so obvious that it slaps you in the face & you can’t ignore whether the timing is right or not So if the jets are honing in on 1 or 2 QBs who are legit first rounders based on conviction supported by their scouting consider this A very good thing.
i think you miss understand, there are college reporters tweeting what scouts/teams are present. i have no problem using that as a gauge to who is doing what. not sure why we even had to take exception to such an innocuous statement as the one that started this anyway, but thats what bb did best. wade through the minutia because he really didn't have much else to add.
The only thing sure for the Jets is that they will get slapped in the face. We'll only know who does the slapping in five months.
Nope, I didn't misunderstand anything here. I was trying to find out if there was anything solid on which to base the statement. Looks like there wasn't. I, personally look for more; if that's good enough for others, that's okay for them, I guess.
exactly what are you looking for then? help me help you so we can move on to something a little more interesting than the scouting efforts of the nfl.
Well, good points. But as an NFL coach, I hope he is smart enough to see who the pussy cats are on the field and benches their sorry asses.
At this point the argument about Petty, Hack and McCown is a no win situation no matter what. People can stand behind the premise that Hack and Petty suck all day long while they both sit on the bench. Apparently neither has the potential to surpass the vet. But if next year we still have McCown at the helm on day one, is proof positive that neither Mac nor the CS know shit about upgrading nor developing the QB position. Period, end of story. I find it pathetic if that is the case. So no escuse about the level of talent should be accepted, starting at the top.
Simply looking for something more comprehensive than a feeling somebody gets from reading random tweets if they make such a positive statement. It's not up to you to validate what somebody else wrote so I wonder why you felt the need to jump in and make it personal.
9-19 record for TB...would you be proud of that making a mil or two??? Would you take some responsibility and own up to it? TB NEVER has Dollars to donuts you would do a better job here even with the talent we have especially if you believe in Offense
Nah I get it, now where's your proof that the other 31 teams have equally been present at these games? Back up the stuff you say. Cause you were so confident before.
If they are absolutely not (and Mac/front office has determined that they will not be) NFL calibre QBs, then you absolutely wouldn't keep them around, you'd sign someone else as backup QB, what's the point in taking up a roster spot with someone who you've already concluded is worthless.
If Mac is still here, then McCown will be gone. If Bowles is still here then they probably won't sign another vet QB at all, but I think (and hope) Bowles will be gone and replaced with someone who reports to Mac.
Again, there are cap implications that keep players around longer than maybe they should. Cut a player and take a cap hit and you still have to replace him so that adds to the cap hit. I know we have a lot of space but it goes quick. I’d expect hack to be here next year since he has 2 years left on his deal and we will carry 3 qbs, maybe 4 into camp
