I would have posted in the non-jets section but I figured since this is breaking news and it effects the Jets with Cousins or drafting a QB it could fit. If mods deem it not jet related they can move it to the proper section

The Jets don't need to key in on Cousins. The talent level is better than we thought, but this is still a rebuilding team with a lot of holes. Signing Cousins would be stupid imo. The only reason for doing that is if they were ready to be serious playoff contenders, and they aren't. It would be trying to take a short cut, or stopping the rebuild and going all in with vets again.

Not really. Cousins would be an immediate upgrade and is still young (29 years old). Just because they sign cousins doesn’t mean it’s a short cut. Jets have plenty of holes to fill and QB is one of them. Jets may not even be in the position to draft rosen and so if they want to trade up that will cost them a lot of draft capital. He’ll demand a lot of money but jets have the cap space to front load the contract if they’d like as there are no big earners on the team aside from mo, Skrine and forte which all will be cut for 2018

I totally disagree. Even if the Jets didn't then totally abandon the rebuild, they still are nowhere near being ready to be serious playoff contenders, and you don't sign a big money QB unless you are. The Jets would probably waste the first 2 years of Cousins' contract. Then when the rest of the team is ready to go, they'd have a QB quite possibly nearing the end, or could be seriously injured and out of football by then. The only thing that makes any sense to me is finding a QB in the draft.

Cousins isn't worth more than Jimmy G, a guy who played in 4 games in a system known to get the best out of QBs? Cmon now, Cousins is a top 10 QB in this league.

Wouldn't Cousins like, ya know, actually want to sign with the Jets....I'm sure he will have options....

  8. Things could get really interesting if both the Niners & Browns decide to stick w Garropolo & Kizer which might put the top 2 picks in play for trades or push the QB landing spots somewhere between 2-4..w the Bills having a ton of picks & the jets having decent ammo could make for some major fireworks.

No idea what the Patriots are doing..they’ve gotta have some other deal lined up..I don’t think kaepernick makes an ounce of sense. He isn’t the team first guy Bill wants, doesn’t fit the offense & would be a massive distraction..

So how bout all that talk about Garropolo being worth the Browns whole draft or being the Pats Steve Young?!

I guess either BB doesn't think Jimmy G is very good, or he thinks Brady is going to play forever. Probably the latter ...

49ers better hope they aren’t getting themselves into a Matt Cassel situation.

Look I could make fun of the Jets for not picking Watson, but that would be unfair. The Jets were not the only team to miss the boat on Watson.
I think Jimmy G will be better than the other Brady backups. Will he be elite as Brady? No, but I think he is better than Cousins. Only time will tell who is right, but if I am right remember this post. If I am wrong, you never read this!

I would have given them a 2nd round pick now that we’ve blown the tank. Better that than trading up in the next draft and burning a load of picks that we ideally need.

Where we will end up picking we will hve to give up a bunch of picks to even get the potential qb of the future. You trust this front office to develop one? I don’t.

Sign Kirk Cousins and then draft a top LT. Am I missing something here? With Niners and Shanahan out of the mix, how is this a bad thing?

It’s not a bad thing. It’s the smart thing. We can sign our qb and maintain all our draft picks. We would have to give up the farm to move to the number 1 or 2 picks in the draft. We could keep our top 5-9 pick AND grab our QB for the next 5-6 years.

Cousins w/ the Jets roster is better than Washington’s roster w/ Cousins. Enunwa, Kearse, Anderson, ASJ, and Powell is a way better group of weapons than Pryor, Crowder, Ryan Grant and Jordan Reed. He will also be playing with a better defense on the other side of the ball and won’t constantly need to score 28 a game. Weather won’t be an issue for him since he already plays outdoors in DC.

They will likely resign Hoyer or they could possibly trade for a QB today

I think it was a money issue. Can't really see them paying their backup $24 million next season (more than Brady ) then even more in 19 to hold him for 2020 if Brady decides to hang it up after his contract expires.

Don't think we really have to worry about the Colts picking a QB unless they part ways with Luck . I think the QB market is going to be unlike any we have seen in past years with the draft and names like Brees, Cousins ,Eli Manning, possibly Luck all in play.
Of course being the Jets, we will resign McCown cause he gives us the best chance to win!!!

Of course being the Jets they’d sign Eli or Brees to give the fan base false hope after back to back miserable seasons.

Again, if Macc does draft one of the top-5 QB's, will Bowles play him or let him rot on the bench for several years? I can absolutely see a scenario where McCown gets resigned for another year as that would be pressing the "easy button" for Macc and keeps Bowles happy. They did it with Fitz and got burned when he returned to his natural playing level. Did they learn anything from that tragedy? Highly doubtful as the Jets are seriously Risk Adverse. ASJ wasn't that much of a risk but a new QB? Different story altogether.
