Hahaha ... I like Joe, but he didn't talk about that damn wind-up Darnold has. I was hoping he would bring that into the conversation, but he had a fair assessment in his post.

Not sure what the reference was too. I didn't want Mahomes in the draft. He may be an ok NFL QB but he wasn't somebody I wanted the Jets to spend a 1st round or 2nd round pick on and he wasn't going to get down to the 3rd.

Lol @joe 's post seemed like he got called in to work on a Saturday during a day he requested off months ago in that post.

On another note, I was working so I didn't see Darnold's game today. He appeared to have played well with a lot of chunk plays, but he still had two turnovers in a 38-10 route. He seems to be turning the ball over regardless of the situation and that's worrisome, especially on such a talented team.

I was watching Baker and he was ok, not someone that screams ready for NFL.

It's been fun watching this class of QBs, I have to say for me, Luke Falk and Josh Rosen have slowly been separating themselves from the rest of the group.

I didn't see the game, but he appeared to play great despite the upset. 24/33 for 306, 2 touchdowns, 57 rushing yards and a rushing TD. No one will ever accuse the guy of not playing his heart out, that's for sure.

Again, I didn't see the game, but I see he picked up a solid amount of chunk plays.

Receptions of 24, 25, 26, 29, 15, 19, 13, etc. Were any of these big boy throws or a lot of screens? I'm trying to find highlights as we speak.

This loss was not on him at all, the defense for Oklahoma was not playing like a top 3 team defense, they looked very soft with the exception of their DT Lampkin. Kid looks like he will develope into a good football player.
    Incredibly stout up the middle.

Some of Baker mayfields throws were screens but he also had some good throws down field. He looks very jumpy in the pocket, even though when he finds space he still looks downfield to make a play and runs only when he doesn't have any open receivers.

    I don't think he's a top 10 pick.

I don't think anyone views him as a top 10 pick. But Russell Wilson and Drew Brees are living proof of success in the NFL without being 6'5". Not making the comparison to either of those players but I could see him continue building his resume up to sneak into the first round.

Maybe not in the first round but I anticipate the following teams COULD be looking for a quarterback of the future.

    - Cardinals (not much football left for Palmer)
    - Giants (Eli only has a couple years left)
    - Chargers (same with Rivers)
    - Steelers (same with Roethlisberger, considered retirement last season)
    - Redskins (if Cousins leaves)
    - Saints (Brees is a free agent & old)
    - Cincinnati (will likely have a new coach that may want his own guy?)

These teams will definitely be in the market for a quarterback and are pretty self explanatory.

    - Bills
    - Jets
    - Browns
    - Jaguars (Bortles struggling to throw for 100+ a game)
    - 49ers

This might be one of the largest seasons for quarterback moves ever.

The only division that will likely stand pat at the position is the NFC North assuming the Bears don't sour on Trubisky/Bradford comes back, but even if not, they can still re-sign Teddy Fieldgoal.

    - We could see Roethlisberger, and Palmer retire.
    - Brees may likely be on the move with a win-now team like Peyton did, as he's a free agent and the Saints are cheap. Imagine he also goes to Denver?

Dalton is one of the better QB's in the NFL, and even then they have AJ McCaron who I personally think is legit. I think Chargers will be looking for Rivers replacement. Bills have Tyrod and given how well they're playing, I'm not sure they would be too eager to move on from him but that can change as the season goes on. 49ers will either have their choice at QB or go ahead and sign Cousins for a boatload. Giants did draft a QB Davis Webb. It will be interesting if they feel like Eli has more in the tank, if they think Webb is the next FQB there. Jags will surely be looking for a QB but I wonder with a running back like they have, and a defense like that, they may opt to get an experienced QB (Rivers or Brees). Browns will likely get rid of Hugh Jackson and Kizer's status on the team is another question, do they view him as a backup? or is he the future that needs a better coach and better weapons on O.

No chance we get him now close the thread. Only way you trade up is at least 3 1sts too many qb needy teams

I did mention it (sarcastically referring to Darnold's "sloow windup" in the midst of mentioning the rocket he threw to Diontay Burrnett on the skinny post--reread, it's there).
"Even in the midst of the loss, he (with his "sloow" windup-smh-roll eyes) he had a few throws to mostly covered receivers that were impressive, most notably that strike he fired to Diontay Burnett on a post. Burnett btw was playing dinged up."

Horse chips. Happy as a clam (I mentioned I was having tech trouble posting--via phone--which accounted for the non-stop in bold which may have made it look 'pissed off'). That said, I've posted one "qb-specific" critique after another in previous posts only to have them glossed over in the midst of all this "Josh tosh" group think here.. . : )

On the other hand (esp. in the Rosen thread) I've been reading a lot of generalized non-specific stuff e.g., "he screams NY quarterback" (what the hell does that mean?) and "he has the clout" (huh?) or (this is a good one) "winning mentality" (who plays QB without one?).

And as for your previous "dimwits hi-jacking the thread" admonishment, hey that was not my doing JV. On page 3, I posted a 'qb-specific' critique only to have some Rosen fanboy troll out-of-left-field quote my post and then himself post: "there's suck for Sam and then there's sucking off Sam. It's clear what group you're in."

You're probably right. Too bad. With Rosen (who described Stanford as his "dream school" yet who turned him down...why was that?), you have a QB who throws a nice, very nice ball.

So did Aaron Rogers at Oregon............then again, so did Jeff George at Illinois and Jay Cutler at Vandy.

With Darnold you have a QB who's doesn't have as pretty an arm as Rosen but who when the game's on the line has a knack for winning.

Like a Brady, like a Staubach.

What if I told you windows in the NFL are smaller and he may not be able to make that throw at the next level? It appears the windup in your opinion isn't an issue, but to me it is, it's Blake Bortles esque.

Also, with 9 interceptions already, I think scouts are probably not looking at Darnold as the #1 overall pick. I happen to think, now more than ever, Darnold would likely just go back to school, get more experience, work on fixing some things and come out next season

Excellent play by Darnold there to make the game 21-14. Looked a lot like Big Ben

Capping off a 98-yard scoring drive.

Just followed that up with an 88 yard scoring drive.

    21-21.

Making up for a 3 fumble first half. I can't imagine him and Rosen not coming out

And just followed the 98 yard and 88 yard scoring drives with a 93 yard go-ahead scoring drive.

    27-21.

This after USC's moronic, Jet-like punt returners letting one punt after another roll down the field inside their 10 and 5 yard lines...

Just watched every drop-back from Darnold against the Longhorns. The guy is so good in crunch time, he made some ill-advised throws, but a lot of those ill-advised throws were to a receiver in stride. You can tell, he's lost some confidence with this USC team. Still a very special talent. He will need a good QB coach to fix up those fundamentals in terms of throwing motion.

While Darnold may have his hands full against Notre Dame's 6th ranked passing defense, USC's chances of winning are probably going to rest more on how well they can run the ball.

Conversely, ND's running back Josh Adams is 2nd in the country in average yards per carry (behind Stanford's Bryce Love) and is powered by a beast OL featuring two sure fire 2018 NFL first round picks in LT Mike McGlinchy and the less heralded (but better imho) Quenton Nelson) at LG. USC's defensive front on the other hand is currently on very shaky ground:

    - Starting NT Josh Fatu is out with a concussion sustained in a car accident this week.
    - Backup NT Marlon Tuipulotu is out for the season after back surgery.
    - Starting DE Rasheem Green hasn't practiced thus far this week (ankle).
    - Starting LB Porter Gustin is out with a broken toe and torn bicep.
    - Veteran DL Kenny Bigelow has retired after a string of knee injuries.
    - Redshirt junior Malik Dorton is the only starter not directly contending with injury (albeit just a couple of weeks removed from suffering a knee sprain against Washington State).

    - Look for ND to run it down USC's throat and dominate the time of possession battle.
    - Look for USC themselves to try and get Ronald Jones at least 15-20 carries. If so, they have a shot at pulling it out with Darnold as the 'x factor' difference. If not, ND ftw.

ND's coming off a bye week; game at ND.

Vegas line: ND favored by 3.5 pts.

Sam with probably his worst showing to date. Guy is making awful decisions and can't protect the football.

Give me Rosen Or Jackson please. Supporting cast for Darnold is no excuse. Jackson and Rosen have a pretty crappy team around them and still produce.
