Unless the Giants really tank and end up with a Luck type talent at the QB position I find it hard to see how they dig out of their hole by next year.

If you look at their roster they really don't have many young controllable pieces. Most of their defensive talent was acquired in free agency or have already been paid. OBJ and Landon Collins are also going to need to get paid soon.

The Giants will need to start a rebuild soon. Problem is that Philly, Dallas, and Washington all look to have good young rosters which means some lean years could be ahead.

    NO

They have much chance as the Mets which is never.
NY will always be predominately a Giants/Yankee town.

I disagree. I am a Yankee/Jets fan, and while I agree there are more diehard Yankees/giants supporters the majority of people in this city support whatever team is good.

This owning the city talk is nonsense. Jets owned the city when they were going to back to back AFCCGs while Giants owned the city when they were winning SBs.

Mets owned the city when they made it to WS, Yanks own the city now.

I do think the NFCE is trending up in talent while the AFCE is trending down.

Just like any sport, the team that currently has a good few seasons will get the band wagoners for the area. They are probably close to even with diehards but the Giants over the last few years have been a little better so the band wagon fans went to their side. When the Jets put together some respectable seasons those same fans will swing back that way.

Only if they take them out for a nice dinner and maybe a movie or dancing.

It will take a decade of success to change the perception of the Jets in this town and in the league.

The Giants have made the playoffs twice in the last ten years, in what's been a soft division.

They are not, and have not been a good team in quite some time.
They also happen to be a complete circus right now.

The only team that owns this city is the Yankees.
Past them the only team that has been consistently good for a decade plus is the Rangers (although the Cup has alluded them)..

In football, it's wide open depending on who is doing better that year.

The Giants had a good record on a soft schedule last season.

But the season before the Jets had the good record against the soft schedule, beat the Giants head to head, and ultimately got their long tenured coach fired.

So you can't say the Giants have been better these last few years. They have flip flopped year to year for most part, with neither team being too impressive.

Last 6 years Giants have been to the playoffs twice, Jets none. Giants had a better record 4 of those 6 years and one of those years they were 7-9 while the Jets were 8-8.
Jets may have gotten a few of the bandwagon fans when they went to the playoffs in 09 and 10 but the Giants went in 2011 and there has been nothing the Jets did since then to get any to swing back to their side.

So yes, the Giants have been better the last few years, 2015 doesn't change that. I did say have "a few good seasons" to get the band wagon fans their way. Some will switch year to year but most will wait at least a little bit before they jump off.

And soft schedule? Do you really think band wagon fans look at that when deciding who to buy a jersey of next?

    2008 it was the Giants
    2009 it was the Jets
    2010 it was the Jets
    2011 it was the Giants
Then it was 3 years with neither team making the playoffs, with both teams being really bad, flip flopping on which was worse.
2015 it was the Jets, but still not that good a team
2016 it was the Giants, but still not that good a team
2017 it will apparently be the Jets again, although i still think both teams are bad.
    2018 who knows?

So no I don't agree that the Giants have been better the last few years...
it's pretty much been a straight up flip flop the last decade, with neither team being a factor since 2011.

I'd say no, but it is possible. In all honesty, the Giants have been worse than the Jets in the last 20 years. They had 2 fluke Super Bowl wins with overall average teams and besides that they have done nothing. They still have a bigger fan base and always will until the Jets start winning. I remember some pretty big Jets bandwagons in 1998 and 2010. It's all about winning in New York. And rightfully so.

But the Giants won the SB and we didn't. So they were NY's team from 2012-2014, not because they were better than us, but because they were coming off a SB win and we weren't.

    Didn't they start 2013 at 0-6?
They were a train wreck if I remember correctly, much like this year...

If the Giants don't decide to blow it up they have a window of another year or two to win. They still have most of their key defensive pieces under contract including Harrison, Jenkins, Vernon, etc. and their young receivers and tightend.

If they fix the offensive line and add a better runningback or Galman emerges, they will be very much in the thick of things next year especially if Eli doesn't fall off a cliff.

They could very well blow it up, and there are even rumors of them trading Eli down south to the Jaguars in the offseason to reunite with Coughlin and quarterback a team with a good running game, young solid receivers and a good to great defense.

In regards to 'taking the town' who really cares?
