Bowles has improved as a coach. Much like players, coaches need development as well. He was highly regarded for a reason and I knew going young would allow him to coach the way he needed to. Now these young guys will become the vets and continue to establish What Bowles is trying to. We’re a clear work in progress but you see the growth.
I've been thinking about this topic and while I do give Bowles credit for having the team play hard I think a lot has to do with us getting a lot younger and hungrier. Some of these guys have chips on their shoulders (Ealy) and some are rookies ...I attribute the "fight" in this team to that and will reserve judgement on Bowles until after the season. The guy still makes some boneheaded calls during the game .
I think if the Jets are competitive and get Brady'd in the 4th quarter that would still be pretty good to me considering where we started this preseason. If they get blown off the map and are 3-3 that is still at least "OK" And if they somehow win??? Even if its ugly/lucky/miracle/BS I don't care. That'd just be incredible. Bowles stock will skyrocket if he pulls this off somehow.
Shock of all shocks! Bowles was on Francesa this afternoon and the interview was civilized. Typical Bowles facade. Did you expect to be 3-2 at this point? Yes, we expect to win every game. Are you happy with the way the team is playing? Yes, they're having fun, but there are some things we need to do better. Are you happy the way Lee is playing? Yes, but there are things he could do better. Most people predicted you wouldn't win any games this year, how do you respond to that? I understand that's their job, but my job is to win football games, that's what I focus on. And so on.
I wouldn't go that far. What has he done? Beating 3 teams that every team in the league should beat. Let's not put him in Canton.
It would certainly show some hope. Well truth be told Bowles has still made some mistakes, but seems to be improving. It's just so hard for me to buy into this team right now. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for the future and I want to believe they can be competitive, but it seems like fools gold. Sunday will be a much better test to see if they are truly worthy.
Yeah at least he's not being like Rex Ryan, just bragging and boasting about how they will whip the Patriots' ass this Sunday on their run to the superbowl this year.
Just a very boring interview answering with short stock responses in that monotone voice not elaborating or expanding on anything. It is what it is because Bowles is who he is, but a good interview should not put the listener to sleep. It should give the listener a reason to take an interest in what the interviewee is doing. I thought Francesa did a good job with the questions, but it was obvious Bowles wasn't interested in carrying on a conversation, just short one sentence answers. Personally, I'm happy with Bowles' coaching results so far, and I'm glad that the Jets-Francesa feud seems to be a thing of the past.
Gotcha I like when the coach gives the media nothing. The less the better. The better they are at it the more I like them. It started for me back when I realized that is what Parcells was doing after his first year with Giants. Especially after the shit that had been heaped on the Jets back then. Also, round that time I saw an interview with Bill Walsh and he was explaining how distractions like that hurt a team's objectives, and made his job much harder. Nowadays it's worse. There's members of the media circling like Hyena's looking for anything to start a shit storm with, i.e. Sheldon. They were baiting Sheldon all the time, and it's typical of them all to elicit clicks and attention without any integrity or even truthfulness. Then they'll all use just one of their reports as "it was reported" so they don't have to own it. Even Fatso crossed the line with Rex and I tuned him out about five years ago, and really stopped paying attention to a lot of it all.
