Grabbing Watson with the #6 and passing on Adams would have been a big reach, and the Jets probably would have been crucified for that. It's too early to judge Watson. He could be the next RG3, one year wonder.
He looks like the real deal. At the end of the day Adams is a good football player, but he's not going to be a difference maker. Watson & Mahomes could have been.
Watson and Mahomes can just as easily flame out. Mahomes hasn't even touched the field yet. Ask the Ravens and Steelers if a safety can be a difference maker.
Man there's a long list of great Safeties that made a difference, a big difference. A great Safety is a pleasure to watch.
It's dumb o question the Adams selection. This guy is very versatile, more or less the jack of all trades master of none? He does have issues with tackling sometimes, but I really don't care. Our secondary is astronomically better than I it was last year.
Wake me up when Adams is going to the HOF and I'll tell you it was a good pick. Short of that I think the Jets are going to seriously regret passing on these QBs.
It's way to early to judge either way, to be honest. We'll see how Watson does when defenses start adjusting to his film.
I feel like I hear this yearly and I feel like it never actually happens. Carr is maybe the only guy I regret passing on in the last handful of years. And by "passing on" I don't mean a guy like Russell Wilson who went in the fourth. I mean a guy that made sense where we were drafting and we went elsewhere.
Both of Adams & Maye were excellent draft picks. Both rank top 5 in tackles amongst Rookies and we're no longer getting beat deep over the top as in years past. Two outstanding beast SEC safeties. Love em.
By no means am I saying Adams was the wrong pick. What I'm saying is when you have that high of a draft pick and you're a QB needy franchise, you can take that risk on a QB. No way is Watson a sure thing, even now, we all know he's not going to continue to put up 5 TDs a game. What I like about Watson is his poise, the game doesn't seem too much for him at this point. And man, he is exciting to watch.
So for Adams we need to wait until he is inducted into the HOF, but Watson and Mahomes, one who has yet to throw a regular season pass, we are having their busts for Canton made now? Just when I think you can't make a more ridiculous statement you go and prove me wrong.
... Or ask the Giants and their dog shit offense if they make the playoffs last year without Landon Collins playing like he did.
collins is a beast, but it's not like he carried the defense. vernon, jpp, harrison, DRC, jenkins they have a ton of talent on the defense. This year though they aren't playing well. apple looks like a bust and been benched a few times already. DRC is suspended after getting mad about them sitting him. vernon just got injured, JPP has been playing poorly and now their D sucks since it's just collins and harrison. 1-2 players can't carry a defense in the way a good QB can carry an offense. lets not pretend the safety position is as important as the QB position
I don't think anyone is arguing that S is as important as QB. I think the notion in question here is that Adams wasn't a good pick because he wasn't Deshaun Watson, who has had 3-4 good games in his 5 total NFL starts.
