The best QB in this class is gonna be baker mayfield and we can get him in the 8-12 range. Everyone relax. Rosen and Darnold aren't that fantastic I promise

If Jets make it to your lifetime achievement award of another 6-8 win season, I won't find it hilarious at all.

I'm glad you are capable of finding solace in "winning" an argument over some board posters. One of those days the glasses will fall off.... it'll be a hard crash.

Rosen is the best QB but we're not going to get him unless we lose the rest of the games, MAYBE. Mayfield isn't even as good a prospect as Mahomes and hardly anyone here wanted him. Not saying Mayfield can't be a FQB - IDK - but before I took him I would grab Barkley.

Yeah, DWC thinks going .500 or better qualifies as a "championship". Maybe he's got the right idea...if we counted all the times the Jets were .500 or better as "championships", our record would look so much better.

And NO, I'm not advocating that we "tank". Line up and play hard and whatever happens happens, but I sure would feel better about winning games and sinking down the draft order if we were also finding out about Petty, Hack, and the other young guys that Bowles is refusing to play.

If he had a stronger arm, he would gander more love, but his arm is no where near as strong as Russel Wilson who has a similar size. Late 2nd; early 3rd round pick.

Baker Mayfield has the happiest of feet and would rather take off running than go through his progressions. Love him as a college QB, love his moxie, but I don't know that it's gonna work in the NFL.

Too busy enjoying 3-2 to care about the draft right now though.

All aboard the Luke Falk train. A lot are saying this is the best QB draft since the Manning/Rivers/Big Ben draft. Hopefully we can mirror the Steelers and end up getting the best QB out of the draft in the 10-15 range.

    Plus a hundred

Not exactly off the tank train yet

A 6-8 win season is just the story of past seasons where we wash rinse repeat ..meh

Pretty obvious TB is coaching his head off and has better CS to help him save his job....players earning their pay

As things play out this season we have NE and tough schedule to look forward to and that might decimate us no matter what..it's just too tough esp the way the Jets sneaked past Cleveland

My problem with what's happening now is not that the outcome of the games; it's how they proceed.

If this is such a "young hungry team" that is capable of greatness, why is Toilet playing old washed up QB. How come our "your hungry QBs" are not on the field?
*** That's question for YOU, DWC!!! Got something to say? crickets... ***

If they put in Hack or Petty and team is winning -- so be it. I can accept rolling with new blood, missing on possible FQB this upcoming draft. Finish with 6-8 wins while rolling with one of the kids & I'll get aboard "let see where Hack/Petty lead us" train.

point being is you either tank with McCown, or push as hard as you can with new blood.
But you DON'T do half and half. It's like this FO is trying to get pregnant, but just a little bit

I agree, they need to play Petty and have him throw it down field. Can't be afraid to make a mistake because this is probably Petty AND Hacks last shot to prove they can be something in this league.

Captain Check Down mentality does not win in this league.

I actually think NE is beatable. Our LBs "can" (should be able to) contain Gronk and DL should rattle pretty boi. On the other side of the ball, NE's D is vulnerable.

not for both of them, no. They'll need a backup QB next year.

Metter o fact, if they finish outside of FQB sweepstakes and won't draft one, they might keep both. Who knows, maybe the idea is to play a year letting supporting staff get experience before putting Petty/Hack in.

I'm probably giving them too much credit though. This plan actually involves a little bit of brain power. I doubt toilet can muster even this much.

Agree. I tuned into the 4th Q of this game after being surprised at the close score. Mayfield played a good game. Two of the ISU scores were the result of some defensive lapses by OU. IMO, Mayfield has everything you need in a QB except height. I think he's going to be a good pick for some team.

P.S. Iowa State has a guy, Joel Lanning who played two ways, LB, RB and QB, and played well at all three. I'm sure Belichick has his eye on him, LOL.

This has been my argument since day one. Having McCown behind center is totally counterproductive to the strategy to develop our young folks now. We absolutely must find out in the field of play what we have in Petty and, or Hack.
If we tank or win with them I'm ok, because it sets the right stage for 2018. Either we have a QB or we tank and draft one.
Winning with McCown completely masks our problem. We need a QB for the future, we have no solid evidence that either Petty nor Hack can do it, and we will miss on the top draft candidates. This is Fitz year one all over again.
Put Petty in and play balls out and as hard as we can. Loosing with him is not bad, winning a few games with him is even better. At least will know his potential.

Mac has to take responsibility for not re-assuring Bowles that his job is safe. Otherwise , why would he be putting a 38 year old QB on the field?

After 5 games, you could easily say it has been a successful season. But lets not get ahead of our selves....the fun part is just starting.

Well put. This is a learning year for all these young players so it isn't going to be pretty all the time. Gotta love their fight though. No "quit" in them at all. Quite a contrast after watching all those big names quit, or play like total dog shit, last season. If the offensive line gets their shit together this week so we can run, we could at least make it interesting. If not, then I agree - buckle up.

They won't do it because winning fills the seats and preserves TBs salary plus Toddy is way too conservative for a bold move like that..but I agree Hack was a sec round pick and Petty a maybe so what the heck..

I think when we start losing and all hope is lost they play Hack/Petty lol you watch hahaha
