Lol don't be so sure. you never know. The only thing that's sure is nobody knows how any college QB will play in the NFL for sure

No player...pick...draft position is guaranteed. Feeling good Monday when I go to work is guaranteed when we win. Which round was Brady picked? How did the Saints get Breeze?

It makes the Gints being 0-4 even sweeter.

Should the miraculous happen and McCown stay healthy, if he plays all year and then the Jets sign him to an extension, then both Bowles and Mac have to go. Regardless of whether the Johnsons ordered it or not.

I'd have a lot more respect for them in such a scenario if they'd resign and go public and make Woody/Chris look like the morons they are.

I think it's a completely different situation..the Fitzpatrick team was a team full of veterans while this team is the youngest in the league..if McCown is resigned it will be to hold the fort for a year while we sit whatever QB we draft in the first round...I still think we are picking in the top 5 and there will be a bunch of QB prospects in this draft...now if we draft a defensive player with our first pick and we resign McCown then I will flip.

depends on the extension. petty will likely walk. meaning the only QB on our roster will be hack going into 2018. of course we assume we will draft a QB. that still leaves us 1 QB short and either pushing the rookie in right away or playing hack. So bringing him back on another 1 year deal would be ok in my book, Just nothing long term.

You are saying that because you have not experienced the true salvation!

Come, brother. True salvation awaits through the #1 overall draft pick.

    Now let us pray...

The first two weeks we played Bills and Raiders

The last two week we've played Dolphins and Jags

May need a bit more data before being able to undertake a comprehensive analysis

I do agree that we've looked better than expected (even against the Raiders) and the young guys on defense especially have been great to watch

I hope that Petty won't walk. I hope that the Jets will have enough sense to give him an extended look this season, and if he plays well, re-sign him, but I couldn't blame him if he did walk.

It's Bowles's job to oversee the development of ALL the players, on "D" and "O". He needs to be able to know if they're progressing and capable of doing what he needs them to do. Take Rex (PLEASE!), who completely ignored the "O" and ST...it was like he didn't know they existed. Bowles hasn't been much, if any, better. Good HCs are well informed about ALL facets of the team, not just their specialty area.

I can't really see a reason to keep him honestly

He is under contract till 2019. That's a pretty good reason

He won't walk this year unless he wants to breach his contract. He is a fa after next season

Well, I think that's because you're totally mistaken regarding Petty. Even if he's just a solid backup, that's something the Jets haven't had in decades. Hack may never even develop into that.

    I agree.

It looks like he's loosened up a bit and is not such a tight ass.

    Worked for Coughlin.

Not just you, seems to be a growing misconception, 4 year deals are the norm for draft picks

So who do you propose the Jets carry as QBs? Re-sign McCown, count on Hack FINALLY being ready to actually play in a real game, and a draft pick? Then if McCown gets hurt, you're left with two guys with unproven ability to play the most important position on the field.

    Yeah, I guess I see your "logic".

we draft a QB, hack stays on and then for the 3rd who knows. Not sure what role petty plays. either way it's moot as i thought he was a FA after this season but he has 1 more year left. But having 3 young QBs on the roster with no experience including a rookie isn't ideal. A guy like mcCown could be great to keep around 1 more year. more usefull then petty. Another option could be alex smith
