He's a got a suit on today a la Landry and he's looking good.

I think more coaches should wear suits. It adds a certain amount of class to the profession

Oh, so the league gave in. That's good, I guess. Last year he wanted to wear a suit like his father did when he coached the 49ers, but the league said he couldn't do it.

Really? I didn't know that. Why would the NFL ban suits from the sideline? All NBA coaches wear suits. Landry wore a suit for crise sakes.

The league said no to Nolan last year because they want all the coaches to wear officially licensed NFL gear with the team logos visible. I think the coaches should be able to wear suits.

It shows a little class on the sidelines. Don't forget,NHL coaches wear them too.

Apparently Nolan's new getup worked. The 49ers beat Seattle and are surprisingly 5-5 (at the risk of sounding arrogant, I told you so.)

He is a good coach and Frank Gore is the best skill position player that most people don't know about.

The suit thing is a catch-22. They have sold the clothing rights to Reebok. Reebok pays that big money, in part, because the coaches have to wear their gear. The coaches get paid huge salaries, in part, because of the marketing revenue the NFL gets. So really Reebok is getting screwed on their deal. Shouldn't the coaches who don't wear the Reebok gear have to pay money back to Reebok?

To be fair, his shoes did have a Reebok logo on them.

But I believe the suit was designed by Reebok.

I don't have a link, but I think I do remmeber something about the suits being made by Reebok. I'm sure they are doing ok if the coaches aren't seen in official NFL gear 24-7 though.

It was because Reebok doesn't make suits.

No one in their right mind would argue that it is better for the league for Belly to look like a homeless guy in Reebok gear versus Nolan in a non-Reebok suit.

The league and Reebok suits would argue. But you are right- none of us fans would argue it.

I'm pretty sure that Nolan (and Del Rio, for that matter) worked with the league and Reebok in designing a suit.

I like the Reebok had enough class to not slap a big logo on the suit. Very nice.

There is more than enough advertising and marketing branding going on in an NFL stadium on Sunday. If a coach wants to wear a suit I really don't see the problem. All this marketing crap is just the league selling its soul. Like it doesn't have enough revenue already.
