I just told you, I've seen every down of every game, but the Washington State game. Darnold is the closest thing to Montana I've seen on a college level. His mobility in the pocket and natural ability to escape pressure while looking downfield is on a different level. He's exactly what you need in the NFL because he doesn't get flustered under pressure. Here is his video vs. Stanford this year ...
The closest thing to Montana? Holy shit. Well, he may, or may not be a Jet someday. I'm not concerned if he is or not. The future of this franchise is far from guaranteed or not on Sam fucking Darnold. Tap those brakes just a little bit.
That's a strawman. Nobody who is advocating tanking expects a player to intentionally play poorly. What we want is for the team's ownership and General Manager to mandate that players that cannot win play. In this instance, that would mean Hackenberg. This is not because McCown isn't bad, it is because Hackenberg is worse (and less likely to win games). No, you do not need a first round QB to make it to a Super Bowl. But with a QB taken #1 overall in a draft, you are far, far more likely to win a Super Bowl.
What a dumb shit play call. Wow. Were up 10 points and about to go up either 13 or 17 and now? Blink of an eye. 3 points. Wow...
I've watched just about every snap of Darnold as well, and he hasn't looked like the All-American player he's been hyped up to be. He's forced too many balls in trusting his arm too much, and has has a couple dropped interceptions as well. He's better on the run than he is in the pocket honestly. I don't see what you're seeing. And there's no way he's played better than Andrew Luck did his last two seasons at Stanford. There's a reason Luck finished 2nd in successive years in the Heisman race. Darnold likely won't get invited this year.
Montana also threw 25 touchdowns to 25 picks for his career in college. He wasn't a stellar college player.
GTFOU! You play the best QB who gives you the best chance to win games. There is no way Hackenberg is as good a QB as McCown. Your issue is that you expected (like many) for McCown to play like shit this season and he's actually played some of the best QB in the league. Pull McCown for Hackenberg? Stop it.
Dude you're just taking L's all over this thread. Hackenberg would stunt the growth of this entire team regardless if you want the team to lose. You can't completely give up on a season to play a guy that will complete 10 of 25 passes every game. There would be a locker room mutiny.
You compared Darnold to Montana. Montana was not a good player in college. How does that support your argument?
Who gives a shit? There aren't any good players on this team. You have the two safeties, Williams, Wilkerson and that's it.
Because Montana was an exceptional QB in college. You can't judge a player by his stats; you have to actually watch each play. College football is a team sport; offensive success is affected by 11 players; it's not tennis or golf (or even baseball).
