Isn't that the truth? One would certainly think with as sorry as this franchise has been over the years that it would have had at least one, if not several 0-16 or 0-14 seasons. Even 0-16 may not be enough to get Woody's attention, but I sure think that nothing less will work well enough to force him to make some major changes in how the team is run and his role in running the team. With his ego, it may take several successive 0-16 seasons. I'm willing to endure them if it means we get rid of Woody altogether or if he finally hires a quality football man to run the football operation, and Woody stays out of the way and doesn't meddle.
Agree 100% with everything except the notion of trading Adams. You look at how valuable a guy like Landon Collins is to the NYG Defense. I would hate to see us deal away a guy with similar potential. I'd rather just bundle together a bunch of future picks and move up a couple spots - but even that I would not be in favor of because we have holes everywhere!
I agree on the value of a topflight safety, however we also have Mayes. If both of those guys look good going into next year one of the ways to rationalize the 2017 draft is to use one of them to get our QB next year.
We gotta lose and keep losing Can't fool around speculating on an Allen or Rudolph or draft order vs other teams in hunt No wins or 1 win pretty much guarantees an offer to the 2 Cali kids Unless one or both of them listen to some clown advisors and stay in school ..that would really suck Summary : Lose all your games and definitely rid ourselves of Toilet B and perhaps even Mac depending on his results Gain prob FQB When you are bad be bad all the way lol Jmho
Would rather get rid of Leonard Williams before I got rid of Adams. Having a safety tandem that can cover TE's, RB's out of the backfield is in large part how you are successful in today's NFL. D-line is overrated unless it's creating pressure up the middle, and you have an EDGE rusher as well. Regardless, wouldn't want to part ways with L. Williams anyways. too young, too valuable, and a lot left to see from him. Think Bowles' defense is holding him back. Jets won't need to trade anyone away if they can't win a game...
Just. No. It is all too rare for the Jets to have high draft picks that actually develop and turn into topflight players. When they do, I darned sure don't want to trade them. There's no way I'd trade Adams or Maye. Like Sackexchange, I'd trade future picks, but not Adams or Maye if they pan out.
Having a top 2 pick with neither of the Cali kids coming out would be interesting. Maybe we could make a blockbuster deal off of that and set ourselves up for 2019 and still get one of the 4 guys left later in the 1st?
I think we need the #1 overall pick as I don't think Darnold is coming out. He doesn't appear to be in a hurry to leave USC.
Manning, Brees and Rivers are old. Their teams would happily take "the next" QB like Green bay took Rodgers. They all need to start winning NOW so we are top 2. I still want Rosen at 1.
First off, Rosen is no consolation prize; he's a grand prize with or without Darnold in the class. That aside, it's imperative we secure the top spot because the chance of one of them staying is real, especially Darnold. If we miss out on the Cali boys, I would trade down and pick a QB later in the draft.
I like both Rosen and Darnold. Both great in their own ways, so I would be good with either of them. I agree, we need to secure the top spot, and if we don't and we miss out on both Rosen and Darnold, then I would trade back. Would be a huge bummer
"Interesting" is one way to look at it! LOL "Scary" and "depressing" would be other adjectives I'd be more inclined to use. If neither of those QBs are in the draft, who would other teams want to trade up for that they'd give us a bonanaza of picks? The only two players at present I can even think would garner that kind of interest are Saquon Barkley, RB PSU and Derwin James, S FSU, and not sure any team would give up a slew of picks for a RB or S, even as important as Ss have become and for players of their ability.
from what I've seen, I'd prefer Darnold (in very limited film) but I like Rosen as well. Bottom line: We didn't trade every player from last year, save +$80 mill in cap space and tank this season to NOT end up with a top FQB prospect
I can't argue with the formula, but I don't see any player or coach doing this on purpose, so there's always the chance they'll fuck it up...these ARE the Jets remember.
I wouldn't WANT to, nor do I think Br4d does, but if that was the price to get Rosen or Darnold, I would do it, for the same reason Br4d gave. I might also consider giving Williams instead of Adams or Maye, but would be less thrilled about that as I believe the next coach will finally use a 4-3 set and Williams will really flourish. In any case, I don't think it will come down to this because either we get the #1 pick outright, or whoever does have it will not trade it away to the Jets.
YUUUUUP, they did it a few years ago when Geno lit up the Dolphins and dropped us like 3 draft spots SMH
That's an interesting idea, but if we have a shot at Rosen, I would say no at this point. OOOPS! Didn't read your first line carefully. I agree with your idea if we can't get Rosen or Darnold.
We could go 0-16, but I have always believed that this franchise is incapable of developing a franchise QB. It just won't happen. Have a nice day.
