Loads of threads about benching Chad etc etc etc..... edit; Yes I know that should be 'our' not 'are' (hangover)
Not even a question in my mind. He did not lose the game yesterday. One bad throw, and one great play by Urlacher resulting in INTs are not enough in my mind to call for his head.
He's the starter, he's been playing poorly, but we've won as many as we have lost. If the Jets want to push for the playoffs in Mangini's first year, Chad has to be the guy.
One great play by urlacher, I could have picked it off. Dont give urlacher credit anyboy watching Chad knew where the ball was being thrown. Terrible play by Chad. One 200 yard game in the last nine games. Pretty unimpressive.
The Jets are trying to get to the Playoffs this season. Can you No voters please tell me how Ramsey or Clemens is going to take us there?
Yes he should still be the starter. We are still in the playoff race even though it is probably stunting our growth for the future. But Pennington no doubt lost that game for us yesterday. The bad throw you mention was not just a bad throw it was a complete mental breakdown, the kind of mental breakdown a Qb with Penningtons physical attributes cannot make. The great play by Urlacher was the same thing for Penny, not such a great play when he was reading Penningtons eyes the whole way and Penny doesn't evemn look at another receiver. I didn't like anythging about Penny yesterday from his play to his press conference.
What's the point of even going to the playoffs if Chad can't win a big game? Like I said before, I'd rather go 5-11 with Clemens at QB w/o Playoffs, than 11-5 with Chad at QB w/Playoffs. We need to look to the future. Clemens needs some in-game experience now.
Nevermind, I don't know either  Everybody is making excuses because the BEars have the number #1 D in the NFL. But HELLO, if you want to win a sb or make the playoffs YOU JUST MIGHT HAVE TO PREFORM AGAINST A #1 D!!! I'm sick of the excuses, I mean the Dolphins beat them didn't they, with Joey Harrington!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! Are offense is going nowhere with a noodle are qb
This team is not going to make the playoffs and I'd rather see what we have with Clemens and build for the future. The argument against him seems to be that as a rookie he will play like a rookie. Well that's probably true, but what's the point of sticking with Pennington if he's going to play like... Pennington?
I think once we are mathmatically eliminated from the POs , we will see others coming in , maybe even Smith in at QB.
You'll never see Smith at qb, although it would be interesting. I think his role willl only be a few trick plays here and there. But I can see Clemens starting the rest of the season if we lose next week.
It shouldn't have to be. If we are a 5-5 team and talking playoffs, that just doesn't coincide. We're looking at a 1st round knockout anyway.
