So Hackenberg has been declared "Inactive" for this game. What do they do if both McCown and Petty go down, a not impossible scenario?

I really wanna see is win today's game @ Oakland in hopes of gaining an early season momentum. A win against the Raiders would be awesome but as a fan I'm ready for a 42-3 type of slaughtering. I've mentally prepared myself for an embarrassment. I'd rather see petty or hack lose. I hate McCown dude is a career loser of a bum.

Weird, it's working for me. They've been broadcasting Red Zone all day.

This is a pretty big indictment of how little they think of Hackenberg, despite giving him every opportunity to step up. This is showing him to be a big mistake by Macc.

I thought the "inactive" QB was still eligible to go into the game, with the stipulation being that if he does the other two can no longer play. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, I believe it's something like an emergency quarterback rule. So that teams wouldn't have to basically switch to a wild cat formation the rest of the game.

McCown looks solid, but I'd still like to see Petty. We're wasting our time with McCown.

For what it's worth, Dakota Dozier has thrown a couple good blocks today thus far filling in for Brian Winters. Shell has also held his own against Khalil Mack if I'm correct in seeing Mack playing on his side.

I tried looking up how the Inactive List works, but still don't understand it. But if a player can be re-activated after being named inactive, what's the point to an Inactive List?

I know I'm an old fogie, but I wish they went back to two-way football - players play both offense and defense.

That's a good way to ruin our chances at the upset today.

Hopefully Beast Mode gets in the end zone for my fantasy purposes.

I think the rule only applies to the QB position.

What I found was that the "QB Rule" said that if your two QBs were hurt, or removed from the game, you could bring the QB from the Inactive List into the game, BUT if you did it before the 4th quarter, you couldn't bring either of the other two QBs back into the game. However, after the 2010 playoff game between the Bears and Packers, where the Bears brought their 3rd string QB in before the 4th qtr, and were then stuck with him, the NFL got rid of the rule.

But aside from that, I don't know how the Inactive List works.
