Maybe, but right now I cant imagine a HC WORSE that Bowles is. The Jets have already seen a GM worse than Mac (Idzik) So I would be hesitant to pull the trigger on Mac unless they had a better option. For Bowles, anyone would be a better option. If you told me that the Johnsons were on the phone with Mangini asking if he wanted to come back that would be an improvement.
I really don't think Macc is a mid to lower end GM in the NFL right now. I am extremely troubled by the lack of success he has had in the first 1-3 rounds, and don't think he negotiates with free agents from a position of strength. If John Dorsrey is available by seasons end, I would be on the phone with him close to seasons end to secure him. Give him full power to hire his own HC, and give him a blank check.
OK, I see what you were getting at now. Thanks for the clarification. Personally, I don't think he will do anything publicly to signal a break from Bowles. I don't think that's how Mac operates, but I would expect him to make his case in private to Woody and Chris Johnson that he has given Bowles a lot of top draft picks to build his D, and he isn't producing the desired results on the field and isn't developing those young players. The thing is, I don't think that's anything that we would ever see or know about.
From all indications he and the Chiefs parted ways on June 22, 2017. Like I said, if he's available he's one of the top candidates I want to run the show. And to be honest, he has whiffed on a few players, but he also ended up with Kelce (3rd round pick), Marcus Peters (1st round pick), Mitch Morse (2nd round pick), Eric Fisher (1st round pick), Zach Fulton (6th round pick), Laurent-Durvernay-Tardif (6th round pick), Chris Conley, Tyreek Hill, Mahomes, Kareem Hunt..... It's a nice list, he seems to mix around picks with o-line focusing high and in deeper rounds on the o-line.
Utter disingenuous nonsense. Idzik wasted 95% of his draft picks and added little to the team in FA. He made no attempt to begin a rebuild. You know as well as I that Mac has been cutting dead wood, and in a rebuild that the roster is gonna get worse before it gets better.
It's his own dead wood he is cutting and he has drafted 1 good starter through 2 drafts and is now the creator of the worst roster in football.
I am not a "you heard it here first" kind of guy, but I have a feeling that the Jets are going to win on Sunday. I've been following the Jets since 1980, and I have seen quite a few games where we were the superior team, by far, and have lost. I have also seen games that we had no business winning, and my gut says that this is one of those games. I'll probably be wrong, and the Raiders win 42-10, which is the likely scenario. Jets 23 Raiders 19
Now that's a bold prediction! I don't see it happening but injuries can change things quickly. The Raiders have no depth. The only chance I give the Jets is if the injury bug hits the Raiders early in the game.
Have you ever seen a pig get slaughtered? Because that's what's about to happen to our Jets come Sunday.
Not sure how my density is relative to the conversation but I would say there are varying opinions on how dense I can be. As to the topic at hand, the only 2 names mac released that weren't his signings were nick and decker, and he has been criticized for both.although I would say those were actually good moves by him based solely on week 1. Now you can keep up with the "they made him do it" argument for the rest of the dead wood he had to cut this offseason but, 1. It is still in his scorecard. If your friend tells you to hit an 8 iron and you come up short it still a stroke on your scorecard. 2. There were still opportunities to improve the roster past last year and he hasn't accomplished that. Draft picks from 2015-2016 do not look encouraging at all. Worst roster in the league. That's his to wear.
