Todd Haley hired as HC for NYJ Feb 2018 from Steelers Laveon Bell becomes FA March 2018 Laveon Bell's favorite football team is the NYJ *GET HYPE*
Did I stutter? Name one individual that is standing out right now? Name someone that had an outstanding year last year. This include coaches. He's like a bald headed succubus. I'll wait for that answer.
Originally tweeted Feb 7, 2011 by Michigan State Sophomore Le'Veon Bell: "If uu wanna y I want the packers to win, its cuz the jets lost…lol I'm not a fan of the packers, but I hate the Steelers…ha" haley, bell, and a franchise QB here by next april. in the short term lets keep the tank train churning!
You are right, is, as in present state. I'm talking about future state, so "would be" applies. The fact that it would be is a result of "is".
Hence "...and will continue to be". Were' talking about the Jets, here, so, "of course" is also applicable.
From what I'm reading here, the best answer is to completely fold the team. It seems like the general consensus is that there's not a single good option out there, so it's not even worth trying. Seriously though, I don't think we're ever going to have the perfect answer. But I do think that the best the front office can do is at least try a new strategy. As many, including myself, have pointed out, we've had nothing but rookie head coaches from a defensive background for the past 18 seasons...and other than 2 fluke AFC Championship appearances, we've gotten nowhere. Does that mean that hiring a rookie offensive coordinator will do the trick? Maybe, maybe not. Does it mean hiring a former head coach like Todd Haley or Jon Gruden will do anything? Maybe, maybe not. But I think trying something new is at least a decent idea.
The modern NFL has made it easier and more profitable than ever to pass successfully. Old adages such as "the game is won and lost in the trenches" and "defense wins championships" are true. The problem is if you look at those only you completely miss the modern condition of the NFL, which is that scoring is a prerequisite to letting your defense win you that championship. This is where the Jets have failed horrifically and that starts up top with the philosophy Woody Johnson seems to be following, which seems to ignore today's game. While everyone won't agree on what's the best course, I think you can sum up the major points most would agree on: offensive background, not a rookie head coach.
Leonard Williams. Aside from him I can't name anyone. Not because Bowles is a bad coach (though he is). But because this team fucking stinks. He can't suppress talent when there's no talent to suppress.
1. Well respected offensive mind - Yes 2. Worked with QBs - Yes 3. Has prior head coaching experience - Yes 4. A winning record as a HC - Yes 5. Made it to the Super Bowl - No but did make it to the NFCC game. Lost due to a bad INT by Favre Remember Brad Childress lost his HC job because he waived Randy Moss, who was very popular in MIN but had become a locker room cancer, without going through the proper chain of command. Also like Mangini he put his faith on a hurt broken down Bret Favre and git burned in the end. He is a WCO guy so he could retain Morton and Bates, for some continuity.
No, but it's week 2 and we already have a potential new coach thread. If we can't make jokes now when can we?
Agreed, especially considering Bell had nothing to gain by it, he just did it out of spite, because the team wouldn't cave to his demands, despite starting 2 years in a row on the suspended list. Players like that are cancerous to locker rooms. He put his personal emotions over the team and no surprise he had a weak showing in week 1. I bet that wouldn't have happened if he showed up to camp. It would be funny if the Steelers franchised him again next year, but I don't see it happening. He's going to walk.
I like that Childress spent a couple years in KC as a "spread game analyst" after being let go by Minny. To me that shows a guy who is willing to change with the times and open to new ideas compared to some of these coaches who already think they know it all - - Would've been extra easy for a guy like Childress to fall in that "my system" crowd. Old, established, WCO guy. Instead he spends time figuring out what this new spread stuff is all about and how to incorporate it. Good suggestion.
