Thanks, just going over my list of what to throw in the car. Just need to know where to go, if it takes the euro track not sure where I can head to.
There is a new school built just a 2-3 years ago within 4 miles of us so might head there. With the new building codes down here it should be a decent option. With the current winds not sure what would really be safe but hopefully it gets knocked down a bit in it's travels.
just read through the posts...yeah..if in Florida just get the gameplan down now. The problem is this...it seems the models are all over the place but they arent as much as we think. Once the storm gets to the bottom of Florida and makes that turn, a 50 mile swing is the difference to eating up the east coast or going straight up the state. 100 miles and you almost have differences in which coast. The models showing EVERY possibility are really not far off. Its a problem because of the turn...and a softer turn kills the west coast....middle turn..the state...and harder turn the east coast right up NC. So...you hope they get it down pat but many in the field will be holding their breath where Irma makes that turn. Its the bottom line..
Weeki Wachee/Brooksville in Hernando County, just north of Tampa up the coast, I'm 6 miles inland from the coast.
Thanks, been down here almost 30 years some down in Broward and Dade County, some up north of Orlando and the last 25+ years on the west coast from Pinellas up to Hernando. We have had a few brushes where we just had to be prepared, this is the 1st one that really looks bad, but we have had some good practice. Worked during the Storm of the Century/No Name Storm, or I guess that is now the Storm of Last Century, down on Clearwater Beach. That is the worst this area has seen since I lived here and those were just over 100 MPH winds, can't even imagine what 175 MPH would be like. Storm surge from that put 2 ft of sand into the gulf front homes.
Inlaws are killing me NOT GOING TO LEAVE,,,,,not sure what more I can say or do at this point ,,,,they are not worried and said that most of the people down there are not either,,,,I think thats a big mistake better safe than sorry,,,,,I might need a drink after my last phone call with them.
Gonna call the wife at work right now and ask her to try and talk sense into in laws ,,In laws told me shutters are rated for 175 mph winds I told them that those will be put to the test and that even if shutters hold,, they do you no good if your roof is gone ,,,u be safe Waterboy and everyone else !
Hopefully they don't get hit. I can't imagine being in one place when you realize the eye is heading straight for you and there's nowhere to go because the interstates are all closed, all the stores are shut, and you have to ride it out
Jay they are inland,,,,Boynton Beach,,east coast a few miles off 95,,,whats killing me is they are coming here next week anyways !
Tell them c, better to come home to a house standing than to be there when it falls down. Plus the time it takes to restore the infrastructure. Time to go.
FJAY it aint from lack of trying,,,,,I'm spent,,,,they are not worried,,,,no one in their community is,,,scary stuff better safe than sorry
to quote "it is not hitting here at 180mph " if it gets bad " we will just go to the casino and gamble " OMG lord help me,,,I need a drink , its noon isn't it ?
latest GFS keeps the eye close to but off of Miami,,ugh and down Floridas East coast,,,ps it then takes a B line for Georgia and S/C
