It appears that the Florida Keys are going to get run right over and South Florida / Miami could be a direct hit. In laws are in Boynton Beach ( thats inland and not far from West Palm ) and Im trying to get them to leave and come up North but they are being stubborn ,Im very concerned as Irma is very close to a CAT 5 and the devastation in Florida and power outages would be unreal if the latest models come to be . Jay or Fjay or anyone else give me any good reason why my inlaws should stay because I just don't think its a smart move ?

Check that Irma now = a CAT 5. I was watching the news just now and guy brought up a great point if you live in South Florida or anywhere that IRMA is threatening now would be a great time to contact your insurance company and discuss your home owner insurance as sadly you might need to have these answers in a few days ! The Keys are going to get crushed ..PS Jose is right up Irmas ass .

They need to go. I know where boyton is and it won't be good if they stay, based on the latest run.

Irma over the Keys is something so terrible, I can only hope. I've spent many weeks there, it's the best vacation spot in the world IMO. My stepson got married on a beach in Key West last November, Fort Zachary Taylor Park.

If this storm as present comes through, there may be nothing left.

    GFS showing Flood damage:

    EURO showing wind damage:

GFS also shows it first hitting SFL as a major sub 900mb CAT 5.... so I dont know how much creedence to put into that..... I'd rather gamble on the wind than the flood. went through that shit last year

Hopefully it decides to explore the mountains of Cuba (sorry Cuba but...)

The best intensity model HWRF is calling for borderline 4/5 before visiting the Keys

we're fuct either way..... i'm tightening up my place the next two days, then hopefully getting some surf on friday before Imake and evac call for the weekend

Unless they live in a newer rock solid house (metal roof, impact glass, shutters) on a high elevation away from water they need to haul ass

and unfortunately, the trough which wouldve been our O-lineman pulls out before the storm nears.... on all worthy models. SO basically nothing to keep it away aside from chance and circumstance

prob not. That far inland the only chance they'd prob flood if the hurricane was moving really slow, or their house sits in a very low spot.
.... all our flooding last year was from storm surge (I live 2 blocks from the marsh / ICW )

A tree through the roof on the other hand......

but if it follows the EURO track, they may be ok. If it follows the GFS theyre in the firing line of the eyewall

Considering theyre older, they should go. I'm trying to convince my parents to fly to NY and stay with my brother..... I'll be rolling with a chainsaw and a shotgun

Well just went to my insurance agent and actually was able to add some coverage.

I am not liking that euro track, looks like I would be about 40 miles from the eye. Lakeland which used to be one of my spots to head to would be just west of the eye. This fucker is looking to mess with my entire family.
