A common mistake to make when looking at these announcements. Those guys were put on the suspended list meaning they don't contribute to the 53 and their names were included right next to those being cut. Those two are on the roster.
I may be mistaken, but here is what I am looking at.from NFL.com But if you check the Jets site, they have them listed here: Reserve/Suspended by Commissioner My mistake.
I agree with your cuts, although I might keep Coleman over Roberts. If Peake makes the team, I wonder if it's because of his STs play or if it is because he was a draft pick? I also wonder if Marshall will take his place on the roster once his suspension is over. I doubt Stanford is going anywhere. He's very good on STs, had a great TC and was one of their better players in preseason. Mauldin's a nice story, but has shown little. At this point, I think he should probably go, and not stay just because he was a draft pick. I doubt that they'll bother to replace Tomlinson. His replacement wouldn't know the offense, and in all likelihood would be gone in 2 games anyway, when ASJ comes back. Leggett's going nowhere, and I don't think Vander Laan will either, as I have read several times how high the Jets are on him. Whitehead must not be hurt as badly as was initially thought, since they cut Hammond, and Marshall is suspended for the first 4 games. I wish we could upgrade Howsare. If Lorenzo Taliaferro can block at all, I think I'd sign him to replace Howsare. I hope that Gabe Marks makes it to the PS. Pelon had a pretty good TC last year, but was cut fairly early. Based on what I've read, he had a good TC this year, and was hustling downfield to make tackles in preseason games. I'm not that surprised that he stuck. I don't think Simon progressed like they hoped, and Thomas didn't have as good a TC and preseason as last year.
Some WR's we should look into Jeremy Butler Josh Huff Jeremy Kerley (60+ catches last year. Too bad Bowles hates him) Rod Streater Victor Cruz Griff Whalen Austin Carr Louis Murphy None of these guys are saviors but a few have had decent season.
I say no to any of those WRs. We need to see what we have in the young WRs. I see no point in bringing in any old, over-the-hill WRs
Well not all of the guys I listed are necessarily old. Austin Carr turned in a good pre season for the Patriots I would be all over signing him. 23 year old rookie. Jeremy Butler was pretty good with the Ravens in only 8 games in 2015.
I don't think he's crap but at 30 he's not what he used to be. I would sign him, solid veteran Super Bowl winning addition that can work with Maye and Adams. 3 time Pro Bowler between 2013-2015. 2nd team all Pro in 2013
I'd be open to a reunion with him. He certainly would be a good depth receiver. I guess it depends on how ready the Jets think Hansen or Stewart are to take on a bigger role. Not a fan of Peake at all. The guy I really want is Austin Carr.
Signing a 30 y/o vet, even if he was good, would go against the entire plan and moves made this offseason.
Kasen Williams is another Seahawks WR and Washington alum who was cut. Has no NFL production, but was standing out with the starters in the preseason and was cut. Kind of fits the mold of what they're doing more than another vet in addition to Kearse
Remember how badly people here wanted Kaaya? Here's to hoping we don't even put in a claim because he stinks.
He doesn't stink. He's limited physically but he's smart and has played in pro-style offense. The lions actually liked him in camp they are just trying to put him on their practice squad
