He was injured vs the Lions, but I never heard the extent of the injury. For that matter I didnt' hear/see anything about the extent of Gragg's injury, either. nfl.com, our local media, and the Jets aren't doing their jobs.
Where are you guys getting these lastest cuts? Damn NFL.com has totally dropped the ball. KFFL Hot Off the Wire is defunct. I don't tweet. Where can I find these?
I'm really stunned by the release of Thomas and Simon. Thomas was probably expendable once the Jets got Kony Ealy, and I guess Pennel made Simon expendable.
I'm really not sure regarding Vander Laan. for some reason i thought it was serious, but i can't seem to find any info other than it being shoulder related. He didn't play in last preseason game, but hopefully it's not serious. We need someone while ASJ is out. Tomlinson's spot could potentially be upgraded.
i'm looking at this page... http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2017/09/jets_cuts_tracker_as_53-man_roster_takes_shape.html
He was a 7th round pick, which is essentially the same as UDFA imo. Between McLendon and Pennel, we had some strong options to choose from. Hopefully Simon makes it to the practice squad. We might need him next year if we release McLendon.
I thought he was in. But prolly got beat by Pennel: or somebody else? I think he's strictly a NT and that may have been a factor.
Yes, Tomlinson's spot could be upgraded, but that player wouldn't know the offense, and when ASJ is back and Vander Laan healthy, that player would likely be cut anyway, so what's the point?
I hope it's Pennel, as I think he has the most upside. He's strictly a NT also though, so who knows. I did notice they gave a ton of preseason snaps to Pelon, for whatever that's worth.
That 2015 draft is starting to look Idzik-ish if not already. Leonard Williams - Stud Devon Smith - So far an injury bust Lorenzo Mauldin - On the bubble [of one of the worst rosters in the league] Bryce Petty - In a rebuild is backing up to a 38 year old journey man QB, who has a 2-20 record in his last 22 starts Jarvis Harrison - Cut Deon Simon - Cut
Thanks. I found some names on CBS.com. I looked briefly at the Star Ledger site, but they have too many pictures and ads, and have separate links for each team. That's too cumbersome.
Cimini: Jets have released long snapper Tanner Purdum, who was the longest-tenured Jet -- last link to last playoff team.
Yeah, I didn't like the SL site. I go to CBS and get blindsided by some bullshit video blasting some nonsense. Sports coverage really sucks at this point
It's surprising, even with reports of Purdum struggling in TC. No tears here. This is the place for fans to vent and voice their opinions. Catanzaro is not a good kicker. Martin was much better in TC. That's reason enough to gripe and be unhappy. I also like Martin because he went to Duke, my favorite college, so I had extra incentive to be unhappy. If Martin had fallen apart in preseason games like he did last year or not been better in TC than Catanzaro, I would not have questioned or complained about his being cut.
Surprised Deon Simon was cut. For a 7th rounder he played pretty well when he got in there. Purdum you saw the writing on the wall once Hennessy was brought in. Then again I also thought Martin was winning the job once Hennessy was brought in.
OT Jeff Adams LB Spencer Paysinger TE Brandon Barnes WR Myles White OG Craig Watts WR Chris Harper DL Jeremy Faulk CB David Rivers S Armagedon Draughn K Ross Martin (Chandler Catanzaro wins kicking battle) NT Deon Simon DE Lawrence Thomas LB Frank Beltre WR Dan Williams LS Tanner Perdum 6 more cuts to go.
The Smith and Mauldin picks are looking really rough (as are the Lee and Hack picks)... Simon was expendable though as Mac actually found better alternatives. I don't see an issue with that.
Before last year Catanzaro was 57-64 career on FG's from all ranges. His situation sort of mirrors Folk when he got here
