Beyond all else this is what we need. List of Head Coaches with experience developing Quarterbacks. Bill O'Brien, Jason Garrett, Kyle Shanahan, Jim Caldwell, Jay Gruden, Adam Gase, Dirk Konter, Sean Payton, Bruce Arians, Mike McCarthy, Doug Pederson, Andy Reid, Ben McAdoo and Hue Jackson 14 of the 32 Head Coaches not including the Hoodie GM who can identify talent and manage the cap Head Coach who can coach QBs leads to a QB who can run the offense which leads to better overall team performance. Hire the best DC possible and give him free reigns defensively, not the other way around. List of potential QB savvy head coaching candidates. Bill O'Brien, Texans Head Coach Jim Bob Cooter, Lions Offensive Coordinator Jim Harbaugh, Michigan Head Coach Josh McDaniels, Patriots Offensive Coordinator Mike Shula, Panthers Offensive Coordinator Ken Zampese, Bengals Offensive Coordinator
We keep taking defensive coordinators that draft defensive players every year. Defense keeps you in games and is essential in the playoffs, but offense wins the regular season. It seems to be coaches coming from an offensive background are more quipped to succeed in modern day NFL than defensive coaches do.
We also need a GM that understands you need a OL to protect the QB your new QB coach tries to develop.
It all starts with an owner who knows enough to hire a real GM. And to be willing to pay the bucks necessary to get the offensive minded HC that hasn't been here in way too long. Also a QB coach who can work with the raw talent we end up with to develop a winner. Yeah, dream on !!!!
I was willing to let this go until I ran across this stupidity. Jesus fucking Christ. How forgetful people get. Of all things, this dude picked TIM TEBOW in the FIRST ROUND. Let that sink in then talk more.
If they are going to continue trying to work with Hack, hiring O'Brien might make sense. But you have to wonder why he himself passed on Hack when he had the chance to get him - of course he wasn't the GM so maybe it wasn't his call, but still... I would prefer they hire someone with a successful pro record as a HC - Peyton, Gruden, McCarthy - if they're available. It's long past time for them to stop the Kindergarten Koach routine. Get a GM and HC who have success in the NFL, pay them whatever it takes and then go from there.
We hired the wrong Arizona Cardinals coordinator. This guy should have been your head coach. Maybe he will be soon.
I'm a Panthers/Buccaneers fan. They both seem to have understood this concept. Panthers with Mike Shula and Buccaneers with Dirk Koetter. Go NFC South
Why would it be in spite of Tebow if they actually made it to the playoffs. Was he not the QB of the Broncos when they went to the playoffs?
I don't think he did, that was painful to watch, Denver handed the ball off 40 times a game and when they didn't use the RB they ran the option for Tebow, if the jets did that with any of their QBs, Jet fans would storm Woodys office with pitch forks and torches. Guys still on Tebows jock strap, it's ridiculous.
If anyone thinks sub-50% completion ratio in today's NFL is [helping his team win], he is a fucking moron. [And I am being very disrespectful to every fucking moron out there with this comparison, mind you.]
so, bring in mike shanahan or mike holmgren, both proven commodities, and let them be the hc/gm and they can pick a guy to run the front office/scouting/draft. they both have a proven record of developing qbs/offensive genius. of course, this senario includes woody/christopher turning the club over to them to run and staying the hell out of football decisions. fat chance of that!
