New York JetsVerified account @nyjets 10m10 minutes ago We've acquired LS Thomas Hennessy from the Colts via trade in exchange for S Ronald Martin Yeah just what we needed a long snapper, now we just need 4 olinemen, a QB, TE, RB, 3 WR's, 3LB's, 2 CB's, KR, PR and a Coach!
We've found ways to bitch about trading a guy that was going to get cut for a long snapper that might get cut. This fanbase is so awful.
I like a good cognac as much as the next guy but we havent had a single problem with our 10 year long snapper. Macaganan is hitting the henny too much
Did Purdum get hurt? Otherwise, this makes 0 sense. Martin was having a solid preseason, and looked good on special teams.
I thought I read somewhere this summer that Purdum was having a rough camp. He's also 33. I mean again, what is the harm in trading a guy that was going to be cut for a guy that is either a.) going to be cut or b.) be better than the guy we currently have? This notion that no moves should be made unless it's for an OL is dumb (not directed at you).
Jets fans on saturday night watching in horror at the terrible team. Mac on monday morning: "get me the phone. roster is looking good we just need a new long snapper"
I really liked Ronald Martin & thought he was developing nicely. If this was for a LS who will not even make the team it's idiotic. If Purdem is about to be cut & we need a starting caliber LS it's hard to argue.
two acquisitions this morning. A long snapper named hennessy and a safety named armageddon. no joke. There's no way Mac isn't tanking on purpose
He was Ross Martin's long snapper at Duke and Martin looks like the guy who is going to win the kicking competition. Purdum is 33 and didn't have a good camp. I still don't see the issue with bring competition on board. Martin was having a decent preseason, but he wasn't going to make the team. Your perspective on things is alarming. He wasn't going to make the team. We have two starting safeties and just traded for a third safety. Miles is having a very good offseason and has been around for years, he's probably the 4th. So what's better... cutting someone and getting nothing in return or trading someone that can provide competition for a guy that seemingly is on the decline? This isn't rocket science. There's a reason you're on the internet and the GMs are GMing.
I credit mac with some forward thinking here. Purdum will have to get tommy John surgery before the bye as much as we will be punting. A backup long snapper is a definite need
Who says he's on the decline, you? He's one of the only positive things in this whole organization. You don't trade a position player for a long snapper...
your argument is pretty funny. "Martin was going to be cut anyway..... " uhhh, what the hell do you think the Colts were going to do with this long snapper? so they traded a young position player for a freakin long snapper who they could easily get off the scrap heap in a week. how is that a positive?
No, not me, multiple reports from camp if you've been following rather than just bitching. Cimini just tweeted about it today actually.
I didn't even say it's a positive, I said it makes sense. You don't want to have any competition in signing a guy that gets cut? Trade for him. And give up nothing in the process. It's so simple. The real bottom line is it's amazing and embarrassing that people are finding a way to whine about it.
Wasn't aware of the connection to Martin, that has some legitimacy. I thought Ronald Martin (lot's a damned Martins) had a good chance to make the squad. Oh well, we have Armagedon!
