New York Jets quarterback Bryce Petty suffered a "considerable" injury to his MCL in Saturday's 32-31 loss to the New York Giants. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the news. After the Jets selected him in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL draft, Petty made his Jets debut last year in Week 9. In six appearances, he threw for 809 yards, three touchdowns and seven interceptions. The team placed him on injured reserve last December with a torn left shoulder labrum. Many were surprised when signing Josh McCown in the offseason was the biggest move the Jets did to address the quarterback position. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2716015-bryce-petty-reportedly-suffered-considerable-mcl-injury
Well yea we're the Jets. What did you expect god to do? We're not the blessed Giants where Beckham is magically a-ok after that Browns player smashes his ankle.
Yeah, maybe Mac will have fixed the OL by then (probably not), they'll have given up on Hack, drafted a QB #1, and Petty will be the backup until he retires. The best thing for him is to demand a trade or to be released. He'll never get fair treatment here, and won't survive playing behind the shit OL Mac has put together.
Well hopefully he heals quickly and can see some gametime himself this season, his last performance and training camp means he really earned the gig but another injury has done him no good, 3 inside a year isn't good for anybody likely to take hits and you will take hits lining up behind this wet soggy bag.
Wish Petty was as durable as his idol Brett Favre...instead he just can't stay healthy. Oh well. Next!
At the very least, the Jets FINALLY caught a break on the injury front for once!! Now, Bowles can do the kid a favor and perhaps play him with the 1's for a change instead of the scrubs Petty is always on the field with.
Realistically, assuming he sits Thursday (he probably should), there's no shot at starting week 1. That said, he should be a shoe-in for no. 2 on the depth chart if healthy. Hack isn't ready.
