What's there to sell! ?? What's there to lose if you keep drafting QBs till one sticks??? You pass on some great defensive talent??? 2018 will be our shot at QB but no mind if we gambled on QB last spring imo Said it before Andy R knows how to coach and grab talent
Its a waste of a pick in which you could get a player who could really help you. Im really liking our safety tandem. Before qb, the need to address the offensive line. No qb will succeed behind it. Its the only reason Sanchez look remotely serviceable. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
With our track record in ten years we wouldnt be able to field a team cause all we would have is a roster full of genos, hacks, sanchezs, pettys, tebows, Mcelroys, and clemens.
Yes you keep drafting until you find one This is the dumbest shit I've ever seen. First off you can't even tell if he makes the 1st or 2nd read at all because of how far away the camera is. The 2nd read was your open man. That's where you throw it to.
He also had no Bengal even near him on a play action pass. Do you think Hack could even attempt a play action pass with that O-line last night? No way.
Did you see the other play of him evading a free rusher and making a downfield throw on the run? How'd Hack do against his free rusher?
I am not saying anything bad about Mahomes. Just saying he would not look like that in this Jets offense last night. It was pitiful. Like I wrote earlier, Petty was terrible last year in reading defenses, picking up blitzes and seeing the field overall. Hackenberg looked like he was doing a decent job of that Week 1, even though he had a few 1 read plays, but last night he did not have a chance. Not even close. Any of those rookie QB's would be struggling with the Jets right now. Trubisky, Kizer, Mahomes, Watson, etc. If the Jets drafted Prescott and the Cowboys drafted Hackenberg, I honestly believe Hack would be playing pretty well and no one would even know who Dak is. That's how bad the Jets Offense has been the last couple years.
In 2017, when has Petty played with anyone other than the Walmart stockroom men? If you're basing your eval on last year, you have to account for the slugs Petty had protecting him (Suh/Wake) and the braindead OC he had calling plays.(Master Chan). NO Jet Qb had a good year in 2016 and since Petty has been pretty much an afterthought in 2017, you're eval is IMO invalid and overly harsh. Don't forget, even with the driftwood Petty played with last season, he lead the team to I think their only come from behind ROAD victory in an otherwise miserable year. Petty is a leader of men. You could see that in the huddles last night. He's getting fucked here because of the politics but don't think for a minute he's another Matt Simms or Kellen Clemens or any of the other wrecked Qb candidates the Jets have ruined over the decades. I dare the Jets to cut him or put him on the PS. They'll regret it if they do.
Petty had Marshall last year, and that allowed Anderson to play a more natural deep route role. He had Powell running, and still couldn't amount to much. Its not harsh its true. I dont know why you just can't let go of him. He doesnt have the talent to be a good nfl qb. It doesnt matter what team hes on. He still does the same things hes always done. If you stare receivers down and force throws, you will never be successful in this league. Im 100 percent right about him. This is always gonna be a topic we disagree. I liked Mahomes a lot, but had mixed feelings about him. If he would have dropped lower in the 1st round or to the 2nd round, I would have had no problems with the Jets taking him. The thing about the gif you posted, however, is that I think he made a bad decision. Read #2 was wide open. Read #3 was closely covered. The ball should have gone to the 2nd read.
We will disagree on this. Marshall had already quit on 2016 and if memory serves, he had a good connection to Anderson. By the time Petty got the ball, and that happened only after Fitz cratered, the season was over and so was the Jets. As usual with the Jests, Petty had no chance. I'm hoping the Jets cut Petty so he can get the hell out of here and get with a organization that knows how to develop Qb talent. The worst thing that could have ever happened to Petty was that he got drafted by the Jests. I see a lot of Farve in the kid. If you think Petty should still be 3rd behind McClown and Hack, I don't know what to say. Petty will never be good enough for some around here and that's ok. Neither will Hack. I'm hoping the following scenario happens: The Jets start McClown who gets smashed in week 4. Hack comes in and takes us to a top 3 pick where we draft Josh Allen. Petty gets picked off our PS by a team that actually has a clue.
The one thing too is making three reads on the same side of the field on a 5-10 yard pass is not difficult. It's not that impressive. However, Mahomes has impressed me in several other instances. I just don't think this is a play or an example that should be used to show a player gets "it." It was a goal line bootleg and all three reads can be seen without even a turning of the head.
For every one Favre, and theres only 1, there are tons who dont make it. The problems with Petty cant be taught. He literally played for a school with a coach who read the defense for him. Hes never learned. No matter where he goes, he wont succeed. He will be cut by next year and if he ever goes on to start a meaningful game ever in his career, ill send you 100 bucks. No joke seriously so hold on to this post. Hell if hes in the league 4 years from now ill send you 25 bucks Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
