Something we have historically failed to do with any kind of lasting success, I don't disagree that we are likely to win 2 or 3 games, my fear is that may prove a win to many for the number 1 and 33 etc etc picks I don't believe picking at say number 18/19 is going to be enough for us atm, it is hard to use those cheaters as an example because bellyache seems to have some kind of magic touch, taking other teams cast offs and all of a sudden they can slip into the team and perform way beyond anything they have shown before, I don't like or want to give him any credit so I will move along. What did they have this time around, 1st pick in round 3, can you imagine us in that scenario at present, shudders but in 5 or 6 seasons time we could be a rebooted franchise with a man with vision and control as the head of the team, pulling out players like Brady in round 7, round 7 ffs
you can't have 2-3 good drafts and still be the worst team in the league. Just can't. The players you draft have to win you games. 3 years in and that's not happening it wasn't a good draft. Pulling only 2-3 players out of 1 draft is not success. If we are pick 1 next year a lot will have to do with 2015 only giving us Leonard Williams. If that's the case, it doesn't matter if its pick 1 or 32 we probably aren't going to get better with 2018s draft. And again, I don't see anyone saying we shouldn't rebuild, just stating we don't have to be historically bad for it to work and odds show that it's better not to be that bad
It's fine that you disagree, but I'd rather have as many choices as possible. That gives my team more chances to get it right. You can't take a player that some other team has already taken.
Well everyone here loves Mac, so we will see what he can do to build this team. Picking 18/19 if you have a QB of the future already isn't so bad. Good talent always falls down. It's up to Mac to find that talent.
I may have been one of the ones who strongly disagreed with or attacked you, too. If so, I'm sorry. I did like him, but he has definitely gotten worse, and I'm royally pissed at the Star Ledger because almost every article they have posted for the last 2-3 weeks has a link to the 10 dumbest things the Jets have ever done. I commented on that and told them to knock it off that they were stupid for doing it, that it was the past, and that it was very offensive to Jets fans. They didn't even bother to respond.
Who is assembling a leaderless team of losers? That's a totally ridiculous statement and doesn't fit the Jets at all. Mac drafted a bunch of players who are leaders and brought in McLendon, and got rid of most of the trouble makers. Sheldon is the only one that is a problem child and still around. They aren't tanking, either.
A top 3 pick may not be good enough to get our FQB. What if there are only two really good QB prospects in the draft, they go 1-2, and the Jets are drafting #3? Simplistic, pie in the sky statements by you and others don't cut it.
Right now it's a 3 QB draft. All 3 are very good prospects. All with different skill-sets. Darnold Rosen Josh Allen All 3 will come out if they stay healthy. 2 wins at most, you will definitely be selecting in the top 3, more than likely first 2 picks. Very rare do you see 1 win teams, to this day, I have never seen 2, 1 win teams. Usually someone also slides down the ranks for no reason. The best QB isn't always drafted at the top. Your boy Mac better be doing his research if Hack fails.
You also can't draft a squad in two drafts, also the players you draft in year one or two in a 3 Season rebuild do not have to give you wins, the time to give you wins is when you are ready to win, no good suddenly going 6-10 in year two and picking up the next level of elite talent is there. Look we all know that picking high is no guarantee of elite talent, this is down to the talent spotters, like I said further up Brady came out of round 7 ffs but we have to have somebody to spot that talent and then be able to nurture it to fruition but I would prefer us to try and do this from a perfect spot and that is number 1 in all rounds, it is a position of power at all points of the draft.
They all have plenty of weaknesses as well, none of those boys come with any guarantees of being a FQB, they come with the same hope we have for any draftee but we will have to see further on in the year how they are doing. Also I said 7th round for Brady, it was the 6th that will teach me not to double check lol
Bowles declined to name a starter for Saturday's game. What the hell does he gain from that? He is so unbelievable weird with the media.
Maybe it's the best way? Whoever he names our media hacks go viral either way...Then they go full fucktard if somebody else starts next week, lol Sememy starts cracking sarcastic jokes, Costello embraces his inner ugly, Manish runs to Sheldon for a comment, Myers writes a thesis on the "QB controversy", and Hughes says they both suck and they're both good in the same story with a headline that captures their sorry lot's majority opinion at the time.
Oh... that makes sense. For a second I thought there was an actual news piece that you dug out, but refused to share. My sarcasm meter been off lately Gotta go talk to missus.
A Hackenberg sighting in what became another, tank vs. win thread, forgot what I was supposed to be reading
PUMPED to see Hackenberg tomorrow night. Young QB's have been up and down so far in Preseason. Trubisky and Watson looked pretty good. Hack's turn to show the world what he has.
Seems every team in the league with an up and coming young Qb are playing them NOW with mixed results. All of them survived with their egos and heads intact sooooo, What Up Todd..? Hack gonna play tonite?????
