I blame myself for this week's games so far. After the Gray trade I finally felt they could make a WS push after having no expectations all year. So of course, when I finally think they can win, they look terrible. :D:(

I think the length of the season is starting to hit these young cats head on. Hopefully Judge & Frazier come out of these little slumps they've been in/getting into.

This should still be a season with minimum expectations. The Sonny Gray deal was as much a longer term trade for next season as it was for this year. I believe Robertson/Kahnle are also both still under contract next year.

They're so young. Anyone who expecting Judge to keep this up was crazy. I still think the home run derby is negative for younger players. Very rarely do you seem someone come out of the homerun derby on a hot streak. And if they do, it's usually a veteran or someone whom has done it before.

Chapman has been complete garbage. He actually was pretty bad for the Cubs despite winning the World Series. Could be injured, could be tired, but to me just looks like a guy who doesn't care. My least favorite kind of player.

I doubt he's tired. He's still throwing 100+. I vote he's just overrated as hell.

We have two guys who could both be solid closers (Robertson & Betances). They should split closing duty.

I mean he had a 1.01 ERA for the Cubs down the stretch in 26.2 innings with 16 saves. Hardly 'pretty bad.'

It's a location issue. I think he was slightly overrated myself. But he needs to get the ball up. Players are nearly always swinging when a guy throws that hard. He needs to throw it at the catchers mask and blow it by people. Everyone, including righties these days, have that upper cut homerun swing looking for low balls to drive.

I wonder if Sanchez is somewhat of the issue. They didn't really work together last year.

I wasn't a fan of dishing $100 milly out to a player like him, when they were reluctant to even resign Robertson a couple years ago, but it needs to be closing by committee right now until he's right. Who cares about the guys feelings. This is a pennant race. Let him correct himself next season. Can't be pissing away games to the Sox.

    Garbage indeed.

I was in Mexico for the week, but caught the tail end of his last blown opportunity. The way he failed to hold runners, him pouting on the mound after giving up the 2 run single to JBJ, and subsequently forgetting to get behind home plate (and the ball went by Romine who I think was catching at the time) showed someone who isn't mentally into the game right now.

If it was just his pitching that was an issue, I wouldn't complain... But it seems to be very mental too.

He blew Game 7 of the World Series. Surprised you forgot. Cubs found a way to win though. He did not look good that whole playoff run in my opinion. That is what I meant. Then got a huge deal from the Yankees and plays like he has? Ridiculous.

Yeah you right. That's fair enough, but he did absolutely dominate with them in the regular season.

I wasn't a fan of the deal though either. Especially after supposedly firing his gun at his ex girlfriend. That was him right?

Hopefully he gets back on track.

*over managing* Joe Madden ran him into the ground last fall (and to a lesser extent Jon Lester).

yanks: ump screwed up yesterday not immediately warning both benches after Sanchez was intentionally plugged.

and screw that pussified lush miguel cabrara, and bush-league jose inglesias (rubbing it in robertson's face), and detroit mgr. brad ausmus ('f-bombing' yankee players)

Solid outing by Sonny Gray who finally got some run support.
