Can't blame the defense when they give up a TD after the QB throws a pick inside his own 10 (cough cough Geno).
Thats second time in this thread you were demonstrated factually incorrect and tried to twist/take back what you said. Be careful, some people might think you're full of shit. Maybe it's time to cut your losses?
The NFL ranks TDs surrendered by CBs, the fact the CB may have had 10 INTs doesn't take away from the fact he would probably be considered a shit CB if he gave up 20 TDs even if he had 10 INTs Likewise the NFL does rank points allowed by a defense and even if they were ranked #6 in yards allowed, they were still a sub par D. To put it in other words, #6 ranked in yards allowed but still sucked balls. I'm done with this because for some reason you are convinced since they only gave up X number of yards they must have been good, meanwhile I watched them play every Sunday and saw a crap D giving up the 3rd most passing TDs, getting the least INTs, surrendering the 3rd most 40+ yard pass plays, but yay, they gave up the 6th fewest yards.
That's because you don't look at one stat to proclaim someone or some team is top ranked. You look at the totality of their on field production.
But I can blame the D for the 3rd most passing TDs, getting the least INTs, surrendering the 3rd most 40+ yard pass plays and other assorted stats they were shit in for 2014
Not true. He had a bottom feeding offense each year on the down hill side. You can't underestimate the importance of field position due to the shitty Nacho factor. Personnel was also going down hill, but his scheme works. Period. Put it this way, he beat Bowles when we needed to beat him in the worst way.
Games are decided by shitty QB play when you have defenses like we had under Rex. Go look at each game. Junc would even know better if he were here. Lol
No because they score out of those possessions, but maybe not out of the other possessions where they punt
this^ finally someone gets it No i confused 1 poster with another. it happens. huge difference. you wanna sya i was wrong cause i said top 5 and 1 year we were ranked 6th? come on. big deal. again hard to play when your back is against the wall because of a poor offense and bad turnovers. Talk to the NFL, it's their ranking system, not mine. but now you can pick stats to twist your arguments lol this^ NE let up more yards but less points. because their special teams was awesome and their kicker and offense. teams were regularly starting inside their own 20 every drive, meanwhile for the jets D teams always ahd good starting field position due to turnovers and poor special teams this^ sanchez was a weak link on an otherwise dominant team those 2 years. defense was amazing, and so was the run game. it was so bad rex had to "color code" plays for sanchez and give him 1 read and throw it away plays this^
Just because the team starts in good field position does not mean the d can't cause a 3 and out. Statistically the jets may have been ranked high but anyone who watched knew that was not a good d. All the other statistics support that too. Ineffective jail house blitzes left us vulnerable in the middle all day. Rex had nothing when they stopped working. I don't understand how you do not get that
I don't really get the argument here. Of course you can't evaluate a Defense based solely on Yards Allowed, and of course you can't evaluate a a Defense solely on Points Allowed. If you've watched the Jets for long enough, you've seen all of these things play out: Revis rocks out while having basically no stats as nobody throws at him. Ty Law goes to the Pro Bowl for leading the league in INTs, despite not actually covering anyone all year. LBs who have a million tackles--of guys who got past them. Jets have #1 Pass Defense completely due to having the worst run defense anyone has ever seen. Flawless Defensive performances ruined due to 4th qtr exhaustion because the Offense can't convert a 3rd down all game. Shut down Defenses ruined because QBs can't either hold on to the ball, or throw it to the guys in the green Jerseys. Defenses that were impenetrable on 1st and 2nd down, but couldn't stop snot dripping out of their own noses on 3rd down. Defenses that shut down the other team all day, then decided to play prevent on the last drive and went to crap. Defenses where everyone is in the right spot, but nobody can tackle. Defenses where everyone can tackle, but nobody knows what they're doing. Defenses that were the best in the league, until some key guy got hurt and everything went to shit. I'm sure the Jets will defy the stats in some other interesting ways in the near future. Stay tuned.
You can't expect a 3 and out every time. even the best defenses of all time can't do that. there were many times we did stop them from getting a 1st down and they still got 3. not to mention garbage time BS of the defense just worn out and defeated in blowout games giving up. there are plenty of "hidden" stats as pointed out. and like you said, I used my eyes. You clearly have too high of standards or don't know what a bad defense is. i guarantee 25+ other teams in the NFL would have loved to have our defense that year. and any of them with a decent offense could have won a superbowl.
The Jets from 2011 and on with Rex were average to awful on 3rd down and in the RZ http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...ts_third-down_red-zone_defensive_numbers.html You are absolutely wrong to even THINK, Rex had a top 10 defense from 2011 and on. Even 2010 we were going down statistically. #s can be skewed and in this case, stat padding on bad teams doesn't make a defense a top 10 unit.
exactly. remember that game in 09 when sanchez threw 5 fucking picks to the bills. our defense allowed 20 1st downs and 300 yards and 16 points, and we lost, but it was practically a perfect performance by the defense, ruined because sanchez was color blind apparently. you could have asked for a better defensive performance but the stats say they didn't play well. oh and we ran for over 300 yards. TJ ran for 210 by himself. and leon had 99 yards. our WRs and TEs combined for 56 receiving yards that game.
They were ranked 30th in 3rd conversion that year. They were not making stops. Let it go,they were statistically ranked the 6th d in the league, but not a good d. Stop harping on 1 stat junc
Percentages don't always tell a great story. writers like to twist numbers for their argument, same way posters are now in this thread. if our red zone efficiency was 0% (aka they scored every time) and ranked last but the defense only allowed teams in the red zone once all year, that percent is meaningless
