Bonino doubt that happens, this guy is going to be trying for 5 x 5 and someone will give it to him Poo!! Maybe we can get Carbomb back too
I believe the Rangers just signed Shattenkirk ,,,looks like a lot of money,,,,,,,Rangers have less than 9 million in cap space ---congrats if true on the signing
Yep. Huge disappointment for the Caps, but I still think he is a good player. Rangers can use his offensive skill too. Good signing and price isn't terrible either when you look at other deals around the league.
There ya go. Btw, I agree regarding Holden/Staal. I view Staal as a role player/defender. An asset, but strictly a defender that uses his length well.
Staal is a liability at best these days. He's slow, he gives up a lot of big plays on defense. I want nothing to do with him.
I'm agreeing with AMjets point. That he belongs at the back end, after Holden. But that Hackett has a point about Staal that I agree with. That's all. But as long as he's here he can fill a niche. I don't know the minutes, but AV played him a lot at key times in that role, in a defensive stance in our end, and he did it well. With a better all around defense his minutes go down tho and I'm fine with that. With the lineup exactly as AMjets stated in the OP I quoted.
Staal never should be in a position in a key role. He screwed us time and time again in the defensive zone especially in the playoffs.
Aw..Staal sucks boo hoo. Dude if he's on the roster he's a key player. He's not going anywhere. You might as well stop whining about it. I'm trying find a spot for him where he contributes, capiche? He was in there many times at key moments at the end of games. He disrupted well with his length, was tough, and protected Hank, maybe as well as anybody on the team down low. That was the role he was used at, and will prolly continued to be used at by AV as long as they're both on the team. Mind you I watched every game, as I recall you didn't and said as much here. I remember Staal saving a game defending the crease against Ottawa. That's his job. You can say whatever you want, but he's gonna be here for long time to come. If you want to cry about that and the salary go right ahead. But every good team has role players. So if Staal can at least play a role while he's still here that's a plus. That's the point. He's on the fucking team as far as I know. So look for him contribute at least a role player. That's a good thing. Or bitch about him for four years. I could care less. They all made mistakes and they came up short. McDonagh gave it up too. So what. They all did. They weren't good enough as a team. Think how they got better and how they can can improve. WTF do you think they signed Smith and Shattenkirk for? Was that you're idea? They've fortified the D and hopefully it will be a lot better in the future.
Defense is set now. If Gorton can work some magic and make another Brass/Zib trade for a #2C using Nash, on paper it'd be the best team we've have in a long time.
Nash is on his last year, we're not getting anything meaningful in return By the way, Girardi signed in Tampa 2 years for 6M, Yzerman says he can see him as a top 4 D loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool One less contender in the East
"Let’s get this out of the way: The Rangers are not going to sign Kevin Shattenkirk, the 28-year-old righty who has been (incorrectly) linked to Broadway since the 2016 trade deadline. Management is not diving in with anything remotely in line with the long-term contract the New Rochelle native is going to command. Indeed, several league sources believe that Shattenkirk has a $49M offer coming his way. It won’t be from Gorton." - Larry Brooks Me - Larry Brooks -
Brooks was dead wrong with every one of his "inside scoops" this off-season with the Rangers. Every Single one
