How is it any different from fans scalping tickets right before kick off? What in your plans are going to change if you were sitting in the section 314 row 5, than if you were sitting in section 139 row 15? If someone wants to be assured of a ticket to every game, but does not want to lock into season tickets every year, this might be a good plan for them. Not every ticket buying plan works for everyone equally, some are ok with chancing it from week to week, others want assurances. If you are pissed because you bought a PSL, well that is on you.
Finally they've found a way to sell the tickets in the last row - but you won't know until you've already paid to park.
I didn't buy a PSL because I know a scam when I see one, which is why I wouldn't sign up for this program either. Its different than buying scalped tickets because I don't give the scalper my money before the season starts and agree to take the shittiest tickets he has to dump on me for any given game. With such an abundance of tickets available on the secondary market to every game (most at a substantial discount to face value) this plan makes no sense.
Fixed your post. So you didn't get a PSL, aren't going to buy this plan, and plan on buying on the secondary market. Not sure why you would get so worked up about it or worry what other people want to do with their money. As I mentioned, for some people the assurance of a ticket to every game might be important, some might like having the season ticket holder benefits without locking in long term, maybe some are on the fence and they want to see if being a STH is worth it.
I doubt they are going to sell many of these at all. Why would you buy it???? If its not an issue waiting until the couple hours before kickoff or sitting in different seats, then just park and buy tickets from some dude in the parking lot or online looking to unload. Its gonna be hell of a lot cheaper than this. and lets be honest, the team will be irrelevant by october. so it would probably be dirt cheap
Mo Im not really miserable , ask any of my friends . I just think the Jets continue to do BAD business. I mean why would anyone want to buy one of these boarding passes ? I just dont see it , I mean if you want to sit in Gods country in the stadium it will co$t you a lot less on the secondary market . The Jets continue to make poor decisions regarding tickets .
This plan is nothing new, it already exists and it's called stubhub. The difference is stubhub costs less, you opt out of whatever games you don't want, and you get better seats that you pick yourself. This year lowers get-in should be about $35 for most games on the day of the game or the night before
That's why I don't understand so many posters getting up in arms about this. It's not as if the team said the only way someone can go to the game is through the Boarding Pass. There is StubHub, scalping, season tickets and Boarding Pass. Choose what works best for you and that's that.
the jets have done phenomenal business over the last decade, went from what a 10 year waiting list to begging people to buy tickets and pissing half their fanbase off along the way. the jets business model has cost them and will continue to cost them going forward. but they dont care because the money comes from tv now. so fuck the fans, let them watch on tv.
it actually happened in just one year. Didn't the Jets force existing season ticket holders to buy a PSL if they wanted to renew their 2009 seats at Giants stadium? That year I was able to land 4 lower bowl season tickets at $80 because there was a ton of non-renewals for the first time in a million years. For the opener against New England I easily picked up a pair on ticketmaster first row sideline for like $100. I was sitting next to some guy who Woody Johnson came up to and shook hands with and then gave a sideline pass so his kid could watch the game on the field
IF the Jets were smart they would have forced everyone INCLUDING the people who had uppers to purchase a PSL > I would have done it and so would many of others but they screwed up AGAIN and did not do it . Gecko I believe that was the year they actually started EFFING with everyone and THAT IS WHEN THE ORGANIZATION REALLY began to not care about US . I tried to relocate to downstairs and was told numerous times that I could not when I had friends and relatives doing exactly what you did . The ticket reps and organization were real pieces of work back then , they probably still are .
Ticket prices will hold up somewhat (probably less than face) until after the NE game. After that, you'll likely be able to buy tickets for 25 cents on the dollar. December 24th game against the Chargers could set record lows for secondary market sales. The real issue for the team is what happens for 2018 ST renewals for PSL holders. ST invoices are due after the draft. If they don't hit a HR getting their franchise QB in the draft I think you'll see a lot of PSL holders just give up their rights. That could start the avalanche that causes the FO to discontinue the PSL program. Secondary market pricing of most PSL's is so low its cheaper to give them up and pay for games you want to attend on stub hub etc. rather than pay the ST renewal price. In my section I've seen PSL's be offered as low as $700 with no takers. That's less than 20% of the original cost. I'd rather give up a PSL and forego the $700 per PSL than pay $1,500 ST renewal per PSL if they screw the pooch in the draft or get the 4th pick in a 3 QB draft. It should be interesting to watch. "If" they hit on their franchise QB they could salvage the PSL concept and prices could come back. If not, I think PSL's are dead in the water here. All they need to do is look at the Giants to see how having a franchise QB keeps PSL's alive and in some cases higher than cost.
