That has to be the logic going forward. If Maccagnan takes another defensive player in the first round next year we need to get torches and pitchforks.
When has a highly inaccurate QB ever became accurate? There is a reason they signed Fitzpatrick last year, there is a reason they brought in McCown (because he's so bad that he just has to make Hackenberg look better).
That's sports entertainment nowadays. Get millions of millennials clicking and giggling. Athletic competition and sportsmanship are out the window. Most of them don't even understand that. I would love to hit that rat in the head with a ball.
The great Cimini copy and pasted Connor Hughes blog. He would fit right in with some of the posters here. Why haven't any of the reporters who were hit by Hacks throws written a word about it?
This is a garbage sensationalized report by a guy trying to get picked up by the national media with a one-liner (it worked, ESPN quoted it today). This is one of the two passes he was referencing. https://instagram.com/p/BUcGcEDBKph/ When you say that he hit reporters with passes, it makes it sound like he missed his target by 20 feet. Not that he slightly overthrew a alligator armed receiver who was right next to the sidelines, one hopping a guy in the leg. Hack has a long way to go with accuracy but fuck that report.
Wow, that throw was old news and was from the first day OTA wasn't it ? The full set of throws have been on this site for a bit anyway, also it was mentioned that the WR ran the wrong route ?
No way will he start this season unless every QB is injured. Certainly not getting a warm and fuzzy with him not improving. He's not improving in a casual setting as you will see in the NFL, pads and shorts. So how will he handle a pass rush and sophisticated coverages and audibles. Now Plan B he doesn't play again this year do you think the fans will be calling for Macc to draft another QB high in the draft. Or are we gonna continue to try and see if this guy is even serviceable?
You have to play him. we aren't chasing anything this year. play him and 1 of 3 things happen 1) he plays great, we have our franchise QB and can draft other positions 2) He plays ok, we draft a QB with our 1st pick, they battle for the starting job in 2018 3) He sucks, we get a high pick, draft a QB, he hangs around as a back-up. Rookie QB starts It's win for us no matter what happens.
#3 is a problem for me. Why didn't they just do that with Hack? We will waste 3 years babying him just to go back into the QB search. If we had found this out sooner it could have changed our 2017 draft goals and maybe just maybe not go and tank a few seasons.
They said he's overthrown receivers but in the videos I keep hearing coaches yell at receivers for turning their bodies instead of their heads which is why he's slightly off. But who the hell wants to read that
Why has Petty become the invisible man for so many here? His few chances last year were meaningless and certainly shouldn't be used to determine his fate going forward. I want Hackenberg or Petty to "be the guy" since we all know that McCown can't be - when game one comes I don't even want to see him in uniform. Let's force the two young guys to prove what they can do. If anybody wants to call that tanking it's the only kind of tanking I'll buy into.
Because Hack was a second round pick and it's easier to bitch about a second rounder than a 4 th. The media is having a field day bashing Hack and alot of posters take Hughes,Manish and Ciminis word as gospel.
The weird part is the guys who slam these scribes are the same ones who worry so much about what they're saying.
Holy fuck. Thanks for posting. I'm 49 and built more like a linebacker. I reckon I still would have made a better effort to catch it than that. That is seriously one of his nearly hit reporters throws? Alligator arms is giving the receiver way too much praise. More like T Rex arms!
In my limited career of playing WR, (middle school and high school) and being near sidelines in college, receivers get yelled at for dumb shit all the time to take blame off QBs. Why? Because it's a lot easier to replace receivers than it is to replace QBs even if they are shitty.
