I don't think there was a Jet fan currently alive that wasn't happy when Davis walked in free agency two years ago.Now we are trading Pryor for him and you are trying to tell me this is a good trade? It's absolutely meaningless on every level possible.Davis is one of the worst cover line backers in the league he isn't part of the future he's part of the past.
Whom ever mentioned the moneyball idea earlier I think has the correct idea about why this happened. The Browns get a young player that may have some upside The Jets get either ILB depth, or more likely a contract they can more easily walk away from after camp than Pryor's. Its not a sexy trade but it accomplishes something for both teams.
Wait, now it's only meaningless? 2 pages ago you were calling it the worst trade ever.what happened, daddy say you can get that shiny new car for your sweet 16 and now you feel better? Mac traded a guy he was going to cut and take a 1.5m cap hit on for a guy he can cut with 0 cap ramifications. Is it a franchise changing trade? No, but it shows some creativity and improves the team.
That's fine, I was just surprised you ignored challenges to this opinion. Don't remember you burying head in the sand before this. Davis is nothing special, but he is better than the garbage that Pryor became. Look at it this way: this trade changed nothing on the field while saving $1.5M cap hit.
As of right now, honestly. I'm no longer thinking Calvin Pryor. I'm thinking two badass SEC Safeties out of LSU & Florida one and two. That's where my mindset is currently at. One being a potential generational starting Jets Safety in Jamal Adams. Think about it. Who's the last Safety we've honestly, truthfully and actually drafted that many considered as being the best defensive player in the Nation. Some even thought best overall player of the draft. Like Leonard Williams @ #6 Jamal Adams @ #6 could end up changing the culture of our seconday now that #24 Revis is gone. Someone has to step up. And i think it's gonna be this SEC kid out of LSU that leads the way. Calvin Pryor just doesn't fit that mold. And we never know, maybe this highly rated Florida Gators kid in Marcus Maye is a better talent, more athletically gifted athlete, stronger overall tackler than that of Calvin Pryor? I can name you more Gator stars than i can Louisville football. Those Florida kids can run. Fast son's of guns. Fastest kids in Country historically. FSU. Miamia. When their fast, their fast. And they can play. If you can run through this Florida humidity since birth? You can run anywhere. Nonetheless Pryor is gone. Pryor was not a Maccagnan draft pick. Maccagnan now has to focus on Maye & Adams. And i believe getting rid of Pryor was rightfully so. We need to find out. Now.
Pryor is one of the most disappointing Jets in the franchise's history. And that is saying a lot. He never lived up to the hype and last year he was borderline terrible. The worst coverage safety in football. He was a hard hitter, but those hard hits also hurt himself. He won't be missed at all. Davis is nothing special, but as a depth LB, I think he will remain on the roster. Definitely more valuable to the team than Pryor right now.
Could you imagine if we actually traded for Demario Davis? And wasted first and second round picks Drafting the likes of Devin Smith,Geno Smith,Stephen Hill,Christian Hackenberg,Mark Sanchez,Calvin Pryor,Quinton Coples,Dee Millner,Kyle Wilson,Vern Gholston.Imagine if we drafted those guys in round 1 and 2 ?,what a joke we would be. Those are the thoughts of the fans of 31 other teams
Dude, he dumped Pryor. That's all. Let Davis run up and down the field on ST's...if he even lasts. He's prolly been trying to lose Richardson too. Who cares what some millennials in NE think...
Do you have evidence that SEC players do better in the NFL than other players with similar draft grades? If not, I can reply to every one of these posts with Dee Milliner.
