Keller is a good comparison. He was a good player, was sad to see him sign with the stinking fish and then have his career end on a catastrophic knee injury.
I remember Keller trying to jump over some guy and ending up almost killing himself! I liked Keller. I remember when he came out I was talking on here about how he could dominate the middle with his speed and hands. No LB could cover, no Safety could run with him. But alas, it was Gronk 10 yrs later I was imagining!
The dude has great hands. Catches shit with defenders hanging off of him. I want a pass catching tight end. I think he can be that guy. Definitely don't guarantee it, but I think he could be a play maker. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
All most every single time he caught a pass near the sideline, he tried to jump over the defender and landed on his head. He was really dumb.
Clemson over the years have recently produced some big time ball players and as an FSU fan i can say that I've been there to witness it (from the outside looking in). Some of these NFL players in which have recently came out of Clemson's program have jaw dropping athletic talents. Dynamic abilities. Especially pass catching WR's such as Martavis Bryant, DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins. Another Clemson stand out WR who fits that mold is Mike Williams who just went 7th overall to Philip Rivers & the Chargers. I have a strong feeling that he'll also emerge onto the NFL's scene as yet another pass catching force out of Clemson. With that said i really like a lot of things about Jordan Leggett as a TE prospect. And below I'll explain why. But what i love most about this kid coming out, is that he doesn't shy away from the bright lights. He doesn't fold under presdure during big games. He's actually played his best football when his team and QB has needed him most. He's rose to the occasion. Which is an important sign for me when scouting a player. To be quite frank. I literally have no idea what certain critics have meant when they've claimed that he doesn't play with emotion. Or that he doesn't have fire. He may appear as being calm on the football field but when the stakes have been high; he's stepped up. Big. Pretty much each and every time too. During his Junior & Senior years he broke out during his final two seasons of play. For example he not only came to play against my FSU's talented defense but he dominated us both times. Same goes for Clemson's rival in Alabama. He performed and excuted against those SEC defensive kids both times. He combined for 11 receptions for 223 yards & 1 TD reception during his two games against my Noles and against Alabama he combined for 12 receptions, 173 yards & 1 TD during two games. That right there. Is some major production. He also saved one of his most clutch performances for last years Champinship game vs. Alabama. He recorded 7 receptions for 95 yards and a key reason why Desaun Watson won and Clemson won a title. When thinking about it; Maccagnan just drafted us one of the most talented (and productive) pass catching TE's out of the ACC (or the Country for that matter). 2015 Rankings amongst ACC TE's: • 1st in TD receptions (8). • 2nd in Average Yards Per Catch (13.1). • 3rd in Receptions (40). • 4th in Receiving Yards (526). 2016 Rankings amongst ACC TE's: • 1st in Receiving Yards (736). • 3rd in TD Receptions (7). • 3rd in Average Yards Per Catch (16.0). • 4th in Receptions (46). • 4th with a long of 56 Yards. Over the past two years he's put up some of the best pass catching numbers within each and every statistical category (when compared to opposing ACC TE's). Not just amongst the ACC either. He ranks right up there with all powerhouse conferences in regards to TE production Nationally. I like him a lot. He's got great size for a TE @ 6'5/255. He's also only 22 years of age with 4 years of experience within an explosive and productive Clemson offense. The SEC and the ACC have always been heated rivals with one another (just think FSU vs Florida or Alabama vs Clemson). I just find it as being an exciting feeling when we're not only able to draft players, from these types of powerhouse programs; but also young players who've competed against eachother at a high level (especially when their respected programs are performing). Hindsight is always 20/20 and only time will tell, but this Jordan Leggett kid should not be overlooked due to his draft status (5th round). This kid has potential steal written all over his game/background.
ASJ lost 25 pounds and hasn't had a drink since Jan. I think he's the more talented TE, but to have 2 TEs that can catch would be day and night compared to last year.
ASJ is also in a contract year though. He may have a fantastic season and then get a decent contract elsewhere. I don't want to put the cart before the horse though.
It will be great to see them both on the field at the same time exploiting mismatches .. if he does have a good season and goes elsewhere .. perhaps at least it will set the stage for the Jets to continue to feature the TE and replace him with an equally talented player. ASJ has the tools, hopefully he stays clean and repays the Jets for giving him another chance for redemption.
If he has a fantastic season, I hope the Jets will re-sign him. They will have the cap space, and teams always need at least 2 TEs. Having both ASJ and Leggett as efficient, effective, productive players would be awesome, especially if they both develop into excellent blockers.
