As if this fan base wasn't starving enough for something to cheer about the press are really kicking us while we're down & counting us out before the season even starts. If this team should exceed expectations it'll be absolutely comical to see these idiots try to save face.
LOL. National sports writers don't try to save face, they make multiple conflicting predictions about the same thing and brag about when they were right about one of them, then ignore anyone that points out reality. But at least you still feed that victim complex, that redeems an otherwise useless post.
Having the #1 pick in the 2018 NFL draft would be the best thing to happen to this franchise in decades. Why doesn't every fan realize that? Exceeding expectations means diddly squat. Winning 5 -6 games means this team "exceeded expectations." How does that improve the team? Give Bowles a one year extension so he is not a lame duck and so he can play Hackenberg from game 1 and let's get off the mediocrity hamster wheel and start building a contending team.
A 0-16 season predicted, seems harsh but that will do, I also notice we lose a lot of 1 score games, that would also do, I know they show the wrong QB starting but if Hack gets the gig and lost every game by a single score 21-14 for example and he showed qualities I would be happy enough with the season take our high picks to the bank and get another chunk of rebuilding done next season, a nice new top of the range RB would be nice.
Really? He has our defense allowing the most points in the league. That's not happening. He has our offense scoring the second fewest points in the league, which is quite believable. I don't buy the idea that our offense will be ranked higher than our defense under any circumstance. *just saw that he thinks the Jets have the 18th best O-line in the league, and it's the team's highest ranked offensive unit. Can't take anything he says seriously.
You're 100% right. But It's hard to sit back while the press purposely turns a blind eye to this fact & constantly finds any little fragment they can exploit to kick this fan base while we're down. Every day you google the top Jet news & every article includes the notion "Sorry Jet fans...you have no Quarterback & the Patriots are better than you". It's been that way since before even last season ended. While it may be true that narrative has been beaten to a pulp..why not move on to other topics surrounding the team? If that doesn't make any passionate fan of this franchise's blood boil & want to stick it to these 2 faced click chasers we truly have reached a new low of ineptitude.
The best thing that could happen to this franchise is for Hack to be the guy. Long shot or not. There are no guarantees with the number one pick. Since 2000 12 QB were drafted with the number 1 pick. Only one made it to the SB and won it, if my memory serves me right. Eli. The rest are still either waiting or busted out. So having the number 1 pick doesn't mean much. Getting the right QB means everything. Why can't Jet fans figure that out.
It's not as simple as " We can only get a QB if we're picking number 1". I don't think anyone on this board thinks that. But unless you get lucky & a sure thing QB falls to your pick ala Aaron Rodgers/Derek Carr(A dynamic the Jets never seem to get right)..you have to have some sort of leverage to ensure you can get "your guy" behind center. That doesn't mean the team has to pick a QB at #1...doesn't mean they wont either. But picking #1 gives the team a bargaining point in which to proceed;Be it simply taking the QB,trading down for volume, or trading to a specific spot where they can secure "their guy" The best scenario is actually both. Hack steps up..we lose a bunch of close game secure the #1 pick & wait for all the QB needy teams to line up their best trade packages.
The early schedule has a lot if winnable games with a much rougher second half. Starting McCown could result in a very good 1st half and ending up around. 500. Starting Petty or Hack should almost guarantee our 1st back to back losing seasons in 20 years if not a top 3 pick. This is not a bad team outside of QB. A few wins and some confidence could result in another season like 2013. But if we don't take advantage of those early win opportunities it could snowball downhill on us fast.
True, true. I'll buy that. Even better scenario if Hack wakes up to the NFL rigor, gets his foot work in order and wins 10 games thus setting the whole NYJ fans base into a frenzy, ....and the media is embarrassed by their stupid predictions and gets sent to the darkest corners of football hell. Mean time Bryce Petty that barely missed out fo the starting job gets traded to Cleveland for a #1. A guy can dream can't he?
We weren't late on Peyton. We just had a HOF coach that was afraid of the draft. Maybe after Bowles is fired, the Jets will hire another HOF coach that's afraid to draft a franchise QB because it could affect his personal legacy. And dumbass Jets fans will rejoice because he's a brilliant coach. Again.
Don't worry, the Jets will lose the first 10 games in a row and then win the last 6 enraging the fanbase further.
He is saying some bullshit, but you seem to forget that Jets offense gave up half as much points as the defense gave up during Geno days. No reason to assume that won't happen this year.
