That has nothing to do with it. A few of the writers said his footwork looked way better, way more "robotic" which is how footwork should look in a sense. His competition is irrelevant.

I'm hoping he reverts back to freshmen year at Penn State and becomes what critics thought he could be way back then.

I love hearing good things, gives me hope that maybe in 2 years that we can dish out a FQB contract (long shot, i know)

    Ah, my bad!

Either way, no media access except for the first practice of each week. Is that new?

No worries dude, and to answer your question I don't think so, usually the media access is limited to 1 or 2 days per OTA session.

  6. Judging by the 5-10 throws we were able to see via instagram..his footwork looked WAY more mechanical & he was playing w. a significantly better base. That's a big step for him along a very long stairway.

Still believe that if folks are wanting him to be a needle threader are gonna be disappointed. That's not what he is and frankly he doesn't need to be if his other skills can offset that portion. W. his size, arm strength & quick release there should be more than enough there for him to still be successful. He just needs his ball placement to be adequate which can be achieved by having top level command of the offense/playbook,proper footwork & a complimentary scheme/surrounding cast that caters to his strengths.

I agree. I truly hope that there's some issue in his personal life that he had to attend to yesterday and that he will be there today. If not, I suspect that the issue is between his ears or lack of heart or both.

  8. Both Mac & Bowles have been very cryptic w. questions surrounding Pryor pretty much all off season. For all we know he was told to stay away from OTAs by the team. Could be a trade or a time sensitive reassignment designation.

Pryor doesn't just have to compete w. the 2 rookies. Rontez Miles, Ronald Martin & Doug Middleton are not slouches either.

I saw a wide receiver not making his cut early enough. His momentum carried him out of bounds because he cut too late.

Good point. I would love it if we could trade Pryor. For all his athletic ability, he just doesn't seem to have the drive to be a really solid, competent pro. He's truly lazy or just wants the lifestyle, money and fame, but not the work. We don't need those types. At this point I'd be happy to just get a bag of footballs for him. Anything else is gravy.

Of course I don't expect a wave of fan impatience to happen in OTAs, nor do I think that Macc and Bowles would react that directly to any fan impatience, it will take a steady build up over time, but in time, if the fans aren't satisfied, changes will happen. So yes, fan impatience does drive team change.

And if Hack doesn't even take a single snap with the starters in OTAs it will raise serious questions about his ability and his mental make up.

But what it boils down to is trust. Trust that the right people are in charge, and have the right plan. After decades of trying new people and new plans and failing, and so far seeing nothing special out of Macc and Bowles, my ability to have faith in them is flimsy. Of course I hope that they'll reward the faith put in them, but as a Jets fan, I feel mostly like Charlie Brown hoping that Lucy doesn't pull that football away this time.

Totally possible, if i recall correctly, it was a WR number i was not familiar with. If it was a rookie that would make sense.

I never wanted them to draft Hack, but I am hoping that he can be who we all want him to be.

  13. Well he's not exactly a heady player...thats for certain. But I don't think he's a bad guy or lazy. He just tends to be overly aggressive, and doesn't have the 6th sense to overcome it in terms of proper angle usage, defensive instinct or recovery movement skills. Now if we find out he didn't wanna compete or threw in the towel after this past season,yes..the lazy label maybe valid.

Pryor's biggest issue is he doesn't fit the modern game. He's a classic enforcer in the box safety. Unless you are a appropriately paid role player, can fill some other roles, or are a special team demon; It's kind of a lost cause. You have to be able to play both high & low.Pryor cannot play high.

Consider this: The best thing Calvin Pryor brings to the table on any given Sunday in 2017 likely results in a fine.

Fan impatience can drive team change, but I disagree that it does, at least with all teams. With the Jets, it may because Woody is such a clueless tool, but with the NFL's better teams (of course those fans have less to be impatient with) or teams that have more strong-willed owners, GMs, Presidents of Football Operations, I don't think it affects them one bit.

If Hack doesn't take a single snap with the starters in OTAs, it will only raise serious questions in fans and the media's minds, not the Jets. But that's a moot point, because we already know that Hack WILL be taking snaps with the starters in OTAs. Mac has said that much.

I totally get the Charlie Brown reference. Sometimes all we have is hope, and we have to cling to that. I don't have much hope in Bowles, but I do in Mac, although not quite as much as when he was first hired. While some fans refuse to trust until that trust is earned, I generally trust people until they prove that they are not trustworthy. So, I think our perspective on things depends upon our general outlook and perspectives on life.

I think he's lazy. His father (or mother) got on his ass for not working hard and being lazy his rookie season. He then had an excellent sophomore season. This past season he reverted badly. He should have continued to improve if he worked at it. Even if he isn't heady, I have to assume that his position coach was suggesting things that Pryor needed to work on and ways in which to accomplish that, and Pryor evidently ignored him and did nothing.

His agent, DC and position coaches all have to have told him that he needs to improve, change and that just laying people out doesn't cut it any more and will only result in fines and missed tackles. If he is too stubborn, inflexible, lazy or stupid to change, then to hell with him. He isn't worth the time of day.

    Cimini:

After missing the Jets' first OTA practice on Tuesday, S Calvin Pryor rejoined his teammates and practiced on Wednesday (closed to the media). The practices are voluntary, but Pryor's absence was noteworthy because his roster spot appears in jeopardy after the team drafted two safeties.

McCown may give us the best chance to win...a great draft pick.

I'm betting his agent told him to get his ass at practice if he had any hopes of catching on with another team.
